In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. ***This position will be in Kansas City, MO***

Summary of Duties:

  • Performs accounting functions of variable complexity to ensure an accurate accumulation and reporting of financial data
  • Perform project accounting activities within PeopleSoft including set-up of contracts, projects, and activities
  • Interface with Program Managers and Project Analysts as needed
  • Analyze and coordinate cost transfer transactions, including internal customer interface, ensuring compliance to procedures
  • Prepare cost overrun reports, analyze, and communicate to internal project managers to ensure timely resolution
  • Perform special projects as requested
  • Processes accounting documents from various sources in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures
  • May prepare and submit assigned journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain working papers required to record accounting activities
  • Compiles data for periodic accounting reports for distribution
  • Develops data to be used in determining project cost variances
  • Analyze variances, prepare explanations and investigate significant variances and account balances
  • Analyzes data to identify recurring problems
  • Investigates problems and recommends corrective action
  • Analyzes and interprets accounting data and presents conclusions to management
  • Assists in the development of detailed procedures and work instructions
  • Work with internal and external auditors – answering questions and providing documentation in a timely manner

You Must Have:

  • U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy “”Q”” level security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field at an accredited university with compensatory Finance experience; or in lieu of a degree a minimum of five years Honeywell Finance experience or Finance/Accounting experience.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency applying advanced principles, theories and concepts.
