Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Analyst that operates between both Finance and R&D. In 2022, Corteva’s R&D organization showcased its dedication to agricultural innovation with a $1.2 billion investment. They focused on advancing the science of agriculture to tackle the globe’s most urgent food and sustainability challenges, harnessing a diverse team of scientists, researchers, and experts who collaborate across a network of research centers and laboratories worldwide to pioneer cutting-edge crop protection and seed technologies.
Responsibilities – How will you help us grow?
Monthly Actuals Reporting: Prepare and deliver timely and accurate monthly actuals reports to R&D leadership and other stakeholders. Analyze financial data and highlight key variances to budget.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with R&D leaders to assist in annual budget development and rolling forecasts. Monitor performance against budget and provide regular variance analysis and insights.
Strategic Partnership: Act as a strategic business partner to R&D teams, understanding their financial needs and collaborating on resource allocation, cost optimization, and financial performance tracking.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the financial impact of R&D projects and initiatives, providing recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
Financial Reporting: Create and present financial reports, KPIs, and dashboards to R&D and senior management. Communicate financial results, trends, and insights effectively.
Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to address specific challenges, opportunities, or inquiries, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Risk Assessment: Identify financial risks and opportunities within the R&D portfolio. Develop risk mitigation strategies and work proactively to address financial challenges.
Capital Expenditures: Assist in evaluating capital expenditure proposals related to R&D projects, assessing their financial impact, and providing recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
Process Improvement: Continuously enhance financial processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as Other R&D functions, Operations, and Strategy, to ensure alignment between R&D initiatives and the overall business strategy.
Qualifications
Education and Experience – What you’ll bring to the table.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant Business discipline is required; technical coursework and a demonstrated technical aptitude.
7+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, preferably in the agriculture or related industry.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
Proven ability to build strong relationships and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Ability to multi-task and adept in process improvement.
Knowledge of Corteva business, agricultural trends and R&D processes is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software, SAP experience is a plus.
