We are seeking a skilled and experienced Finance Manager who is familiar with nonprofit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to join our team at Virtual Enterprises International.
As the Finance manager, reporting directly to the CFO / COO, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of our organization, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities :
Budgeting and Forecasting : Support the CFO / COO in developing and monitoring budgets, tracking expenses, and provide financial forecasts to guide decision-making.
Financial Management : Lead and manage the entire period-end financial close process (fiscal month, quarter and year-end), and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including transactions, receipts, disbursements, and journal entries, ensuring adherence to nonprofit GAAP principles and regulations while preparing financial statements.
Financial Reporting : Prepare regular financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for internal and external stakeholders.
Accounts Payable and Receivable : Process invoices, vendor payments, and employee expense reimbursements, while maintaining clear records of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Financial Analysis : Conduct regular financial analyses and provide insights to improve financial performance and support strategic planning.
Internal Controls : Support the implementation internal controls, policies, and procedures.
Auditing Support : Work closely with the CFO / COO and auditors during the annual audit process, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements.
Training and Support : Support the CFO / COO in training to staff and student participants on financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus.
3+ years working in the nonprofit sector, with a strong understanding of nonprofit GAAP principles.
Thorough knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
Proficiency in using Quickbooks, and Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. Experience with 3rd party financial management software such as (url removed), and Expensify are a plus.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Understanding of educational organizations or experience in the field of education is a plus.
