JOB SUMMARY:
Provides leadership in developing, analyzing, and conducting complex financial analyses to assess the viability of strategic and financial plans or support the institution’s opinion on compliance matters. Maintains the established goals of the organization with an emphasis on the independent analysis and reporting of financial information. Mentors and coaches staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently monitors performance of operations and financial reporting. Evaluates programs or reimbursement through the use, development, and modification of financial reports and/or models. Designs and implements strategies to generate compliant and accurate payment.
Collaborates with Section leadership to support the management of budgets, resource allocation, and financial plans, for the Section of Surgical Sciences
Assist in developing business plans and scenario modeling to understand the financial impact of decisions and various strategies.
Develop proformas with Section leadership to evaluate new programs or other strategic investments for (e.g. expansion analysis, new clinic programs, ancillary service offerings) in an efficient manner.
Assists in leading the transition to WorkDay for financial and accounting systems for the Section.
Leads operating and capital budget development efforts. Manages the annual operating and capital budget processes.
Oversee the preparation of the annual operating budget for Section. Requires evaluation of budget to ensure related volume data is consistent across business unit. Coordinate budget presentations by leadership, maintaining documentation for decisions and performing necessary follow-up.
Facilitate reconciliation of actual performance to budget expectations and reporting significant variances from budget. Work with Section and Finance leaders to analyze performance to budget and make recommendations to improve financial performance.
Prepare and deliver financial reports to executive management regarding Section operations, budgets and strategic planning efforts.
Analyzes future trends and indicators in related areas of interest. Reviews data to analyze trends affecting budget needs or compliance risks.
Performs both key and non-key account reconciliations for all assigned general ledger accounts and records adjusting journal entries as identified.
Generates and analyzes financial and accounting reports and records adjusting journal entries as identified.
Completes month-end, and year-end responsibilities in a timely manner.
Approves and verifies transactions and reconciles highly complex transactions and accounts. Prepares complex journal and closing entries as well as general ledger accounts.
Oversees capital submissions, tracking and reporting process for the Section and related areas.
Participates in cross-training as required.
Other duties as assigned.

Position requires analyzing unit operations to determine quality and value added opportunities (review of revenue cycle, cost accounting information, training, monthly slides, margin analysis) along with review of the programs/service lines in terms of efficiency or productivity.

Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) and 5 years relevant experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MBA or advanced accounting or finance degree, and healthcare revenue cycle knowledge
