Position Status: Full-time, apportioned between The ESOP Association and the Employee Ownership Foundation
Travel Requirements: As needed, 3-5 times annually
Overall Description of the Position:
Director of Fundraising and Development is an employee of The ESOP Association (TEA) with time apportioned to and funded by its affiliated supporting 501(c)3, The Employee Ownership Foundation (EOF). Housed within TEA’s Government Relations and Public Affairs division, the Director will use her/his knowledge and skill in political and non-profit fundraising to formulate best-in-class programs for each respective entity. The result will be the raising of program resources and greater member engagement, leading to and supporting successful political engagement in the advancement of ESOPs and the promotion of the employee-owned model of business.
Through creativity, strong organization, relationship building, tenacity, and knowledge of best practices, the Director will collaborate with volunteer leaders to raise funds in several capacities for each organization to help promote their individual goals.
While the Association and its affiliated foundation have a long track record of funding development and deep membership passion for the movement, current programming and planned expansion requires a dedicated professional to oversee fundraising efforts that can fully realize the tremendous potential of this powerful community. The Director of Fundraising and Development will be integral to raising the necessary funds that will develop and maintain successful, sustainable, and impactful programs. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and demonstrate creativity as well as an entrepreneurial spirit in their efforts.
Responsibilities:
In this role, the Director will collaborate across departments, maintain database and participation histories, coordinate with member companies to facilitate development and action center campaigns, and ensure logistics are effectively planned and executed for events. Through attention to detail, inevitable changes and unforeseeable developments will be handled professionally with an unruffled demeanor and communicated effectively to everyone involved. As the needs of TEA and the EOF, staff, membership, volunteers, and stakeholders, are learned the Director will have both opportunity and an expectation to provide valuable input on processes, procedures, and future events.
Working with the President & CEO as well as the Vice President for Public Affairs and Advocacy, the Director will be responsible for program creation, development, and ongoing operations of ESOP PAC and TEA’s Corporate Council. The Director is also responsible for fundraising for the EOF, including its annual month-long fundraiser, ESOPATHON, held each October during national Employee Ownership Month. These efforts will include components of PAC strategy, donor appreciation, data maintenance, recruitment, and budgeting. In addition, the Director will oversee some of the duties related to EOF programming and events.
