Description of Work
The WNC Farmers Market, is a 36-acre state owned facility operating with the goal to provide local and regional farmers access to sell products to both businesses and consumers.
The facility offers farmers and value add food producers retail shops, wholesale truck sheds, Market wholesale buyers, daily truck shed sales, and “soon to open” certified kitchen for farmers and food entrepreneurs.
North Carolina is one of the top 10 agricultural states in the U.S. and the WNC Farmers Market, located in Asheville, is a key hub for agriculture in the region.
Western North Carolina, Ag Region generates $1.2 billion in produce receipts across 28 counties which the WNC Farmers Market is designed and situated to support.
The WNC Farmers Market is open 24 hours a day for farmers and wholesale food and produce delivers, 7 days a week, 361 days a year.
The WNC Farmers Market facility is organized to support farmers, produce resellers, wholesale vendors, retail market shops, full-time garden center, and restaurant.
The WNC Farmers Market Marketing Specialist position will support farmers and NC food producers with innovative marketing programs, social and online media advertising, and event marketing all with a style that celebrates the Western North Carolina’s diverse culture, food, and heritage.
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provide services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests;
protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians.
The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience or a combination of both.
Bachelor s degree in marketing, business administration, crop science, animal science, horticulture, home economics or related area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the related field;
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
