A Brief Overview
The Director of Finance Business Intelligence will help to develop and lead the Business Intelligence function in SHC’s Finance team reporting to the Administrative Director of Capital Finance and Finance Business Intelligence.
The Director will help to establish a Finance Business Intelligence team responsible for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive finance data warehouse, system financial reporting and analytic capability, and environment and governance structure.
The Director will be one of the primary leaders from SHC Finance coordinating with the Controller’s Office and TDS for the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system development and implementation.
What you will do
Oversight and development of the Finance Business Intelligence team, including team structure, role and responsibility development and definition, and coordination with other Finance and related teams.
Creation of project plan and timeline for development of Finance Business Intelligence as core shared service for all SHC Finance and Controller’s office teams, including:
Decision Support
Financial Planning and Analysis
Pricing and Price Transparency
Capital Finance
Treasury
Controller’s Office
Managed Care Contracting
SOM Support
Market Development
Revenue Cycle
Development of “source of truth” data warehouse for finance data and key metrics. Work closely with TDS leadership to maintain, oversee, and develop the finance portion of the enterprise data warehouse.
Development of one-stop financial reporting environment for all finance reports. Partnership with Controller’s Office, Financial Planning and Analysis, Decision Support, and other relevant teams to align interests and produce simplest and best possible reporting solution.
Work with Operating Finance on rationalization and removal of redundancy of financial/finance-adjacent reports across the Stanford Health Care ecosystem.
Work with Decision Support team to ensure data structure and reporting capabilities enable system-level Service Line reporting (integration of UHA, VC).
Work with SOM Support team in SHC Finance to ensure timely reporting to SHC and SOM executives for Funds Flow and physician productivity.
Coordination of SHC Finance leadership in the Enterprise Resource Planning process.
Coordination of SHC Finance in ongoing maintenance and evolution of core systems (costing, budgeting, service line reporting and analytics, long-range financial planning, capital, etc.).
Stakeholder representing SHC Finance needs and helping to oversee the process and timeline for the evolution of key pertinent finance systems through ERP and system upgrades (costing, product-level analysis, operating budget, long-range financial plan, capital, etc.).
Coordination with TDS with data warehouse structure and formation and ERP / finance system upgrade, maintenance, and evolution.
Advisor and support structure to Finance leadership for data warehousing and structuring, analysis and report development and dissemination.
Assist in synchronizing reporting across Stanford Medicine Enterprise, including coordination with counterparts at SOM, UHA, ValleyCare to ensure system-level reporting.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or related field.
Master’s Degree preferred, but not required.
Experience Qualifications
Minimum seven (7) years of work experience in financial management.
Graduate Degree in a related field
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Deep understanding of IT requirements, enterprise software installations, and requirements development.
Demonstrated competency in financial reporting and decision support.
Expert skills with PC base applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SQL).
Conversant in financial & operation systems (e.g., EPIC/Clarity, Lawson, IDX SMS GL, cost accounting, executive management, etc).
Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to promote and maintain interpersonal relationships.
Develop strong team culture and working relationship with colleagues, peers, direct reports, and teams.
