The IT Technical Engineer for Finance is a strong leader with experience in architecting, implementing and facilitating the company’s corporate finance solution (General Ledger, Receivables, Payables, Assets), also operational accounting (Controlling, Product Costing). S/he is an advocate of continuous improvements and industry recognized best practices. The position plays a vital role with Finance and Operational processes, providing high quality solutions into production environments. A great candidate will drive business best practices and standardization across the organization to best serve the company.
Core Responsibilities:

• Lead the effort in architecture/design/development/support with our Finance and Controlling (FICO) system needs (SAP and JDEdwards) for the corporate and plant operational needs.
• Direct/Lead our service partners and other IT Support groups on application support, troubleshooting including corrections for production issues, recommendations for improvement.
• Utilize project management skills to ensure FICO work streams are properly identified and prioritized, resources utilized, timelines met and provide consistent status updates.
• Liaison to the FICO Business and Functional IT groups regarding acquisition implementations, system enhancements upgrades and road mapping.
• Drive the Finance and Controlling (FICO) business processes to determine where automation / improvements will drive efficiency. Identify process efficiencies, recommend innovative uses of software functionality, design and implement solutions.
• Drive awareness training/skills development of the FICO systems to other areas of IT and business departments.
• Partner with IT groups in other related technologies to provide effective FICO solutions to serve Smithfield’s consumer products growth strategy.
• Provide guidance to our service partners with technical expertise in the key FICO areas:
  • Organizational Structure – Account Hierarchies/Reporting/organizational design
  • Finance Sub-Areas – G/L, A/R, A/P, Closing processes
  • External Partners – Banking/Cash management, Reporting services
  • Reporting – Financial Data Warehouses, Company consolidations systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 8 + years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, required.
• Minimum of 6+years of SAP Finance and Controlling (FICO) module experience, required.
• Experience with other ERP systems (JDEdwards, Oracle, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience in Meat, Food or other consumer product industries is a plus.
• Strong background in problem determination/solution design.
• Experience with design prototyping/testing automation solution is a plus.
• Great team player in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may act as a lead by providing training and guidance to others. This position is also responsible for providing oversight and mangement of our third party Service Providers.
