Rocket Pharma is seeking a top tier candidate for a Payroll Manager with a positive attitude and highly motivated to learn and grow within a fast-paced organization. This role will take part in various work streams within the Finance and HR organization and will contribute to the development and implementation of best practices within the accounting and reporting processes. You’ll work to ensure our payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time. A big part of your job will be to liaise with other professionals. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with experience in payroll administration and deep knowledge of payroll regulations. We also value integrity, team spirit and strong organizational skills. Your goal will be to ensure our payroll procedures are compliant, efficient, and current.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for driving the day-to-day operations of the payroll function for Rocket’s rapidly growing US team.
Maintains payroll information by designing systems, directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
Updates payroll records by reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance coverage and savings deductions.
Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
Develop and update documentation and processes to ensure compliance with policies and legislative requirements. Documentation will include systems development-related documentation and user guides, when needed.
Partner closely and develop strong relationships with HR and the Business to improve workflow efficiency and transactional experiences. Ascertain future needs and develop/communicate to HR and IT to support the business.
Administer the Company’s 401k Plan and other defined contribution plan with responsibilities including managing transitioning of vendors, the annual 401k audit, timely and accurate enrollments, deposits and other transactions, communication with HR teams for Plan and investment reviews, etc.
Ensure completed timesheets are recorded and approved properly to be extracted and uploaded to payroll system.
Assist new employees in training for time entry and electronic approval.
Manage time and leave reporting and balances, review and adjust balances as needed.
Manage leaves of absences, benefits restoration, and any salary changes when employees return from leave.
Audits and verifies complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Define and execute payroll controls, support payroll tax registration process, support unemployment process with 3rd party vendor.
Responsible for coaching and advising HR resources in HR-Payroll dependent business processes. Support HR in overseeing consistency in service delivery, drive standardization, and share best practices across the organization. Steer process optimization, facilitate audits and drive improvements to payroll process.
Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Contribute to SOX audit compliance.
Collaborate with internal partners, including HR Operations, General Accounting/Finance.
Requirements:
BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field.
At least 8yearsplus of total payroll experience with US or multi-state focus.
Experience with multi-state payroll and tax laws, and payroll processing.
Thorough knowledge of federal and state payroll and tax regulations.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines and strong problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Familiarity with TriNet, Kronos, ADP (Workforce Now), and NetSuite ERP a plus.
CPP License preferred.
Salary range – $96,000 – $114,666
