Corporate Responsibility Overview:
The Corporate Responsibility (CR) department oversees the development and implementation of the firm’s CR agenda and initiatives by crafting goals, policies and initiatives that align with the firm’s business strategies and operational objectives and support communities where we do business. CR includes Global Government Relations, Global Philanthropy, Sustainable Finance, and the JPMorgan Chase Institute.
Department:
To that end, Impact Finance, as part of Corporate Responsibility, deploys the Firm’s principal capital to support the philanthropic objectives noted above and strategic initiatives such as our $30bn Racial Equity Commitment. The Impact Finance has built out a multi-asset impact investing and lending platform to advance these objectives. The team makes low-cost loans to mission-driven financial intermediaries, such as Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs); it also makes equity investments in funds and early-stage, mission-driven companies that advance the Firm’s impact objectives. The team’s investments span multiple themes (Affordable Housing, Small Business, Financial Health, the Future of Work, and Sustainability), and contribute to strategic Firm commitments such as the $30bn Path Forward , a commitment to advance racial equity.
Description and Responsibilities:
The team is seeking an experienced finance professional who is eager to leverage their financial acumen to drive social and environmental good. To date, most of the group’s debt transactions have focused on CDFIs. As the Impact Finance initiative grows, the team is also diversifying the counterparties and geographies we extend credit to, and via different products (e.g., equity investments in credit funds).
The candidate will play a critical role to drive continued expansion of the team’s transaction activity and build out this diversification effort: developing strategy and market landscaping, navigating internal approval processes, and working across the organization to source, structure, execute, and monitor transactions. Counterparties and structures under consideration could include: SBICs, credit funds, impact-oriented CLOs, and other structured finance opportunities.
As the firm executes on its sustainability strategy, Impact Finance is also seeking more transactions at the intersection of sustainability and inclusive growth, to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in the transition to a lower-carbon economy (e.g., energy efficient affordable housing; financing installation of distributed generation assets on community facilities via financial intermediaries)
The team member will also support other cross-Line of Business (LOB) efforts seeking to utilize capital to support strategic CR initiatives.
