We’ve been retained by a $40mil EBITDA distribution company to help identify their CFO that will help the private equity investors execute their investment thesis. The Company is a market leader in its space and is looking to double in volume in the next 3-4 years. The growth will come from a mix of organic growth combine with the development of new product verticals and some tuck in acquisitions. The Company is conservatively leveraged with amble liquidity to fund this growth. Prior distribution experience is required as is being part of a successful exit.
Scope and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced strategic, operational, and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to help lead the organization through its next phase of growth and expansion. The Chief Financial Officer will be a key partner to both the leadership team and private equity investors working towards sustainable, long-term profitable growth, collaborating in the development and execution of a strategic plan, and enhancing the overall operations of the company. He/She will assume accountability for providing strong financial leadership to a scaling organization, both as a strategic thought partner and exceptional team leader. Working closely with the leadership team he/she is responsible for executing a compelling market-based business strategy generating exceptional shareholder value while accelerating the current growth trajectory.
Specific Responsibilities
· Provides Executive Leadership Team and Private Equity partners with proactive and accurate reporting on financial and operating results, including weekly flash, as well as monthly and quarterly reports.
· Develops annual and monthly financial budgets and forecasts.
· Oversees core finance and accounting teams. Professionalizes a best-in-class finance and accounting organization through developing and building their team.
· Advises leadership team on strategy and processes to support and drive an aggressive growth plan, including provision of cash flow analytics and scenario modeling.
· Oversees the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring adherence to high levels of customer service, safety, cost control, reliability, and financial performance.
· Manages ongoing business and operating performance against operating plans on a quarterly, monthly, and weekly basis.
· Provides seasoned leadership, while balancing organic and inorganic growth initiatives.
· Plays key leadership role in M&A strategy development and acquisition integration.
· Implements accounting policies, procedures, cost accounting supervision, and internal controls.
· Works effectively with executive teams in developing specific, measurable goals for performance and growth, using KPIs/OKRs, performance management, and annual operating planning and budgeting processes.
· Oversees financial and operational systems implementation, integration, and upgrades.
· Brings a detailed and robust performance orientation using data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
· Identifies and manages business risks and insurance requirements.
· Provide leadership and day to day management of the internal IT organization and external vendors. Ensure a fully integrated approach to IT systems and processes consistent with the overall goals and objectives of the company.
· Leads annual audit process.
· Manages lender relationships and debt reporting requirements.
Key Selection Criteria
· Finance Leadership Experience: Previous CFO experience or a VP Finance who has played a key role in a successful exit. Experience transitioning a company from founder to private equity ownership a plus.
· Industry/Business Experience: Private Equity-led global distribution environments.
· FP&A & Ops Finance: Proof or potential to enable a finance organization that can effectively analyze and stimulate measurable financial improvements, including platform cost efficiencies, add-on acquisition synergies, working capital improvements and customer profitability that led to improved profit and cash flow. Success optimizing cash flow in an aggressive AR/AP environment.
· Strategic Finance Vision: Demonstrated track record as a highly operational and strategic executive who can identify and manage key revenue and cost drivers to grow revenue and EBITDA from his/her role as CFO. Forward-looking with the ability to analyze and explain trends and issues in partnership with the executive leadership.
· M&A Planning & Execution: End-to-End leadership experience in acquisition due diligence and integration of acquired entities where desired financial synergies were achieved.
· Technology Skills: Background coordinating and overseeing IT systems and staff. Led successful ERP systems audit, implementation and/or integration.
· Team Builder, Coach and Mentor: Experience building and leading teams in a collaborative way to drive business performance.
