Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients,
donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive
New York City, where all children and adults have access to the
resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive
approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in: Education &
Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support
Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than
65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations,
including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New
Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the
Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees
from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in
poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New
Yorkers today.
CAMBA’s Fiscal Department provides fiscal
administration including accounting, budgeting, procurement services
and procedures for numerous city/state/federal contracts and/or
private grants. In addition, the Fiscal Department recommends
alternatives to assure that organization-wide objectives and
priorities are met.

What The Accounting Supervisor
Does:
Communicate effectively with direct reporting staff,
peers, supervisors, and funders.
Review & approve funder
invoices, closeout packages, and journal entries for all subordinate
staff.
Assist subordinate staff in preparation of FYE variance
reports, internal and external audits, and other external reports as
needed.
Ensure all program variance reports are distributed to
program and fiscal management monthly.
Provide coverage for
direct reporting staff during absences so that fiscal representation
is continuously available for all assigned programs.
Review
subordinate staff variances monthly, and make recommendations for
future action based on current spending and invoicing trends.
Plan and organize Fiscal activities to maximize Fiscal contract’s
goals and performance targets.
Motivate, coach and counsel direct
reporting staff to meet performance goals.
Improve teamwork among
direct reporting staff as well as among peers.
Train all new
direct reporting staff on Grants & Contracts Department policies,
processes, and systems.
Troubleshoot direct reporting staff
program issues, and make decisions in accordance with Fiscal
department policies, procedures, and protocols.
Escalate items of
significant concern to the program/department/agency to Grants &
Contracts Department management.
Work with direct reporting staff
to improve work performance through feedback, training, and other
appropriate mechanisms.
Create consensus for change with direct
reporting staff, and supervisors/funders.
Administer constructive
discipline to direct reporting staff, as needed.
Manage own time
effectively and coordinate Fiscal activities to maximize time of
direct reporting staff.
Monitor staff progress towards their
goals weekly.
Review all documentation for accuracy,
completeness, and clarity.
Lead and participate in administrative
and staff meetings as requested.
Make recommendations to the
appropriate management staff regarding organizational policies,
procedures, and protocols.
Provide all required information for
weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports to CAMBA management
and/or to funders.
Review and sign timesheets.
Prepare
performance appraisals for direct reporting staff
Minimum
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in
Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field and/or equivalent
experience.
Other Requirements:
2+ years of Not
for Profit supervisory experience preferred.
DHS, HRA, HASA &
CFRS experience preferred but not required.
Must abide by strict
ethical standards.
Must maintain integrity, objectivity, and
confidentiality at all times.
Must avoid personal conflicts of
interest situations.
Compensation: -$85,000-$92,000
annually-
When salary ranges are listed, the range would
represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program.
The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each
program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience,
education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and
other factors that may be required for the position and
organization.
Status: -Full-time (35 hours per week)-
