American Express Technology is a critical Enterprise function, serving as the backbone of all we do, from providing the underlying infrastructure of the company to building core products and services we deliver to our customers. Amex Technology has changed dramatically over the last few years, and as Technology continues to evolve its operating model, the Finance organization needs to evolve with it. The Tech Finance team provides enterprise value through delivering data-driven insights and analytics related to Business drivers and core Technology priorities that ultimately enables business decisions and affects Technology’s overall financial position.
To support increasing demand, this Finance Director will serve as the primary relationship lead for the Technology Risk and Information Security, Corporate Technology and Technology Business Management organizations, providing financial decision support, key analytics, and strategic oversight and reporting for a multitude of critical priorities while building a strong partnership with senior leaders in Technology and across Finance.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Advance financial transparency and innovation in how we report and communicate financial results for Technology, both for Tech Investment and Operations
Build meaningful partnerships with senior leaders in Technology to enable optimal outcomes and achievement of operating expense commitments for the Enterprise
Create Enterprise value through influencing business decisions for Technology and the business in line with long-term enterprise objectives
Support planning, forecasting and results processes for an expense base that drives critical investment decisions for the Enterprise
Partner with key Finance, Business, and Technology stakeholders to drive increased efficiencies and achievement of shared goals
Perform strategic ad-hoc analyses and research to turn data into more insightful information driving business decisions
Retain, recruit and inspire a team of professionals to deliver against key objectives
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of relevant Finance / Business work experience (prior experience in P&L management, analytics, and decision support preferred)
5 years of proven direct people leadership experience
Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of P&Ls, financial metrics, cost drivers, forecast methodologies, and cost allocation/expense recovery concepts
Proven experience synthesizing large amounts of complex data with the ability to draw key conclusions
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to present complex topics simply and succinctly to a senior audience
Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate through ambiguity and work across a matrixed environment
Expertise in successfully managing and prioritizing workload across multiple projects/issues and driving results while meeting critical deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to influence individuals across all levels without authority
Advanced Technical Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, TM1, Oracle Smartview, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree (Finance / Accounting / Economics / Mathematics / Data Analytics); CFA/CPA/MBA or technical certification is a plus

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
