Under minimal levels of supervision, the Lead Platform Engineer will work as part of a team responsible for designing, implementing and supporting multiple, complex custom and 3rd party solutions. Primary responsibilities will focus on providing 24/7 operational support including monitoring, incident management, root cause triage, monitoring, road maps, documentation, testing, and product integration. In addition the engineer will perform and coordinate planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance activities to facilitate version upgrades and support initiatives to deliver new solutions and bring new installations online (e.g. new ship builds).
What you will do:
Engage as Primary SME for multiple applications managed by the Shipboard Fulfillment Team
Engage as technical point of contact with vendors, peers, and infrastructure operations partners.
Perform daily activities to ensure availability and stability of lower and production environments including maintenance, configuration, and software updates following established procedures.
Identify root causes of system issues and resolve independently.
Participate in evaluating, developing, and implementing tools and automation to facilitate platform maintenance and administration to ensure operational efficiency, and reliability.
24/x7 on call support for Sev1/Sev2 incidents, engage per the established policies and procedures including the Incident and Change Management Processes
Participate in planning and delivering projects for business unit initiatives and updating existing infrastructure, products and/or services. i. Collaborate to develop solution roadmaps ii. Engage to define or identify environment requirements/sizing, system architecture including Integration points, configuration, monitoring needs, security compliance, system availability, recovery and implementation strategies. iii. Proactively work to identify and resolve technical blockers.
Provide support for multiple levels of testing prior to upgrades or releases of new infrastructure, software, and service layer components.
Serve as primary technical liaison with vendors and coordinate vendor engagement for incidents/bug fixes, problem tickets, release schedules, issue tracking, system access
Proactively ensure compliance with Security standards
Create and maintain required system documentation
About you:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field or related work experience.
10 years of experience supporting enterprise solutions.
Knowledge of systems applications and hardware, server architecture, operating platforms, and internet and web applications.
Experience in the cruise industry and working knowledge of relevant critical systems.
Knowledge of various security standards such as GDPR/CCPA/PCI and experience with related activities such as assessment, audits, pen testing, and resolving security findings.
Experience with project management methodologies (agile, scrum, waterfall).
Experience with automating deployments, monitoring, alerting, and logging
A deep understanding of security standards in the cloud and experience implementing them
Experience mentoring and leading teams
Partner with project team members, business partners, and executive leadership to solve problems, devise technical solutions, and deliver effective results.
Participate in design reviews with other members and groups within the department
Stays on top of current technology and development tools related to area of expertise DESIRED Experience with technologies such as:
Virtualization technologies (VMware, Docker, etc.)
Enterprise operating systems (Linux, Windows)
Android Mobile Operating System Familiarity with
Kubernetes, Rancher
Couchbase, Postgres, SQL, Oracle
Cloud-hosted services like AWS, Azure
