Job purpose
Harvest Intercontinental Church, Olney, is looking for a full-time Finance Manager. The person is responsible for building strategies and reports to help the organization improve its financial health and meet its long-term goals. In addition, they are responsible for preparing reports, creating financial forecasts, and brainstorming ways to maintain or reduce church costs.
Duties and responsibilities
Core Functions
▪ Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
▪ Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
▪ Review financial reports and performance results with church leadership and board.
▪ Prepare and coordinate annual budget exercise with Staff Director and Church Board
▪ Work with external auditors to ensure correct reporting of financial statements.
▪ Review and Post journal entries for members contributions and other revenue items to accounting system.
▪ Work with Contributions Manager to reconcile members donations recorded in the data management system (Churchteams) to revenues posted to the accounting system.
▪ Track revenue and spending related to various church events and programs.
▪ Verify and deposit weekly in-office contributions.
▪ Prepare bi-monthly payroll reports and post payroll entries.
▪ Prepare and review bank reconciliations.
▪ Prepare Invest-Beyond reconciliation.
▪ Prepare Mission House expense reconciliation.
▪ Approve payment requests submitted in bill.com.
▪ Review and post AMEX and Capital One spending reconciliation.
▪ Coordinate approved funds disbursements for international projects.
▪ Develop Accounting Assistant by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee engagement.
▪ Coach and assist Cash Counting Team.
▪ Address and respond to inquiries from Church leadership, staff, members, and other queries related to Finance.
▪ Manage relationships with banks, credit card companies, and other vendors.
▪ Serve as point of contact with Verizon and approve purchasing of employee’s cellular phones.
▪ Prepare State Annual Property Tax return.
▪ Review and update church Insurance policies.
▪ Review and provide guidance for new vendor contracts.
▪ Prepare year-end 1099 reports for A/P vendors.
▪ Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Other Additional Functions
▪ Assist HUB Department in gathering payment support documents for funding approval and reimbursement.
▪ Coordinate the submission of grant proposals and applications to federal, state, and private entities.
▪ Prepare tracking report for grants awarded.
▪ Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
▪ Ad Hoc inquiries.
Qualifications
▪ Must embrace the Christian faith in all aspects of life.
▪ Minimum of associate degree and 1 year experience in Accounting OR 2 years’ experience in accounting.
▪ Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles.
▪ Knowledge of auditing practices and principles.
▪ Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics.
▪ Attention to detail, accuracy, planning and organizing.
▪ Strong communication skills.
▪ Previous history of working in a church a plus.
