Job Description:
With high level goals provided, manages the project accounting function for all sizes of projects of basic to high complexity. Performs review and verification of monthly client project revenues for all sizes of projects of basic to high complexity to ensure accuracy of information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Performs review and analysis of monthly outstanding unbilled account balances. Participates in monthly project review calls to identify problems/opportunities with respect to revenue. Records adjustments to revenue in enterprise financial system(s). Allocates resources to ensure all group projects are adequately staffed. Develops and maintains project accounting policies/procedures and ensures they are kept current, documented, and followed. Prepares client invoices for contracts for projects of basic to high complexity, including verifying contract terms, collating invoice packages, filing and retention of invoice documentation. Reviews invoices generated by finance staff for accuracy and distributes final/approved invoices to the client. Follows prescribed project setup document received from project leadership and translates setup documentation into the financial system. Closes out completed projects in accordance with the firm’s policies and procedures. Researches tax requirements for project location. Confirms tax amounts due with corporate tax department. Ensures confirmed tax amounts are properly included on client invoices. Utilizes financial systems to facilitate billing and payment of subcontractors. Supervises the day to day activity of staff. Provides feedback on performance appraisals. Supervises the development and training of staff. Approves paid time off requests (PTO) and ensures human resources policies are followed. Coach and mentor staff to accomplish department, functional and personal development goals. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree. 8 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Construction project experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of project accounting policies, practices, and principles. Advanced knowledge of and ability with enterprise financial systems (example: Oracle). Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software (example: Excel, Word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able communicate verbally and in writing in the language of the project managers they support.
Background Check and Drug Testing Information:
CDM Smith reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States.
