PSE’s Financial Planning & Analysis team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Finance Business Manager position!

Job Description
The Finance Business Manager, Business Performance Management (BPM), will serve as the finance functional lead within a multi-disciplinary team working toward implementing enterprise-wide financial process improvements. As a financial subject matter expert (SME), the successful candidate will be required to draw on their combined finance, operational, system and process knowledge to help PSE build and continuously improve toward its enterprise strategic objectives.
The Finance Business Manager will be responsible for a wide range of project-based activities including quantitative and qualitative analyses, data modeling, providing data driven recommendations toward process design in shaping future minimum standard best practices and serving as a key functional contributor in process improvements.
Job Responsibilities
Finance functional lead (within a cross functional team setting) responsible for analysis, design, build, implementation and embedment of finance process best practices on the ‘Activity Based Costing Implementation Initiative’
Provides iterative data analytics (in partnership with Data Scientists) to identify empirical job cost profiles (by workstream)
Combines data analysis with relevant business insights from operational partners and translates discovery into an activity-based forecasting framework
Team member (participant) in value stream mapping to capture, identify and document workstream processes as part of establishing foundational standards in financial planning process; gain operational insights to be used in ensuring best practice in process design and implementation
With enterprise strategic objectives in mind, identifies most consequential business drivers (within workstream analysis), formulates and makes recommendations on performance measurement of identified work streams to be incorporated into the ‘Enterprise Balance Scorecarding’ effort
Works with technical partners to remedy identified system gaps so data and system requirements can be aligned to empower envisioned business strategy
Partner with Data Governance within the data steward network to establish standards around identified critical data entities – operational, finance, supply chain, etc.
Drives project workflow to meet delivery milestones and when challenges arise, proactively manages expectation; works to mitigate scheduling impacts
Takes ownership of responsibilities while identifying and recommending improvements to processes, procedures and systems; that appropriately considers stakeholder and team feedback
Develops consensus around analytical approaches and cultivates ties across business groups
Promotes best practices of modeling techniques, methodologies, controls and documentation
Promotes accountability of financial assumptions and results across the organization by communicating to and educating business groups about operational and financial implications of activity based costing
Serves as a data driven change agent and exhibits ability to take intellectual risks and tactfully challenge the norm (status quo) in search of transformational change
Ad hoc analysis as required
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
7+ years in finance roles with progressively increasing levels of responsibility preferably with time in the utility industry
Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management
Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and takes initiative to drive solutions; works effectively without direct supervision in a fast paced, stressful and multitasking environment
Desired Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a quantitative field or MBA
Financial experience in activity based costing and associated analytical approaches. Ability to demonstrate its connection to price-volume-mix variance analysis techniques
Demonstrated experience with financial process improvement (continuous improvement) and performance measurement
Proven quantitative decision-making skills, including significant examples of problem-solving, performing detailed analysis, and developing recommendations
Lean or Agile certification/training or ability to demonstrate academic process improvement techniques via practical example
SAP system knowledge, including functional understanding how critical master data integrates to/from the various SAP modules (FI/CO, PM, PS & MM modules)
Experience leading and delivering projects under tight timelines
Advanced skills in MS Excel, Powerpoint; ability to create basic database in Access
