Zurich North America is looking for a Senior Actuarial Consultant / AVP, Actuary I to support our growing Accident, Health, & Travel Strategic Business Unit. Ideally this role would be based out of Zurich’s New York or Schaumburg office but we are also open to this role being based out of any Zurich North America office or 100% virtual.
This role will be filled at either the Senior Actuarial Consultant or AVP/Actuary I level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.
This critical Actuarial role, aligned with the Accident, Health, & Travel Strategic Business Unit, leads the pricing of new and renewal business as well as the development of effective premium/rating structure and strategies in support of business objectives including new products and product enhancements of Leisure Travel.
The Senior Actuarial Consultant / AVP, Actuary I is also responsible for the following:
- Leads rate filing development of new products and product enhancements
- Coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analysis
- Analyzes loss and expense reserves
- Provides consultation on actuarial models and risk issues
- Supports A&H Market Facing and Technical Underwriters on A&H pricing decisions
- Coaches others to employ teamwork and collaboration
- Fosters collaboration and cross-functional interaction
- Influences business decisions through effective communication
- Leads actuarial discussions with business partners around profitability
- Aligns customer service needs to business priorities
- Promotes customer/client-focused culture
- Sets an example for exemplary customer service
- May oversee the work of less experienced actuaries
Senior Actuarial Consultant Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
- FCAS/FSA or equivalent international certification
OR - Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
- ACAS/ASA or equivalent international certification.
AVP, Actuary I Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
AND - FCAS/FSA or equivalent international certification
OR - Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 13 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
AND - ACAS/ASA or equivalent international certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- FCAS/FSA
- Previous experience on product development, pricing, filing and experience monitoring of Individual/Retail Accident & Health business
- Team Leadership experience and desire to lead
- Ability to effectively communicate and partner with the business
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to explain technical analysis results to non-technical audiences
- Collaboration experience on cross-functional team projects
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or knowledge of statistical analysis software

The salary range for this role in any US State is $151,500-$189,400. The Salary range for this role in New York City is $189,400-$236,800. This is the range Zurich NA in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed remotely in any US state or New York City, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also bonus eligible. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
