Position: Accounting Manager

The Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) is a rapidly growing leader in wildlife conservation. WCN’s dedicated and diverse team values the people and relationships behind conservation as much as the science and strategy to save wildlife. We are looking for an experienced, collaborative professional with an accounting background who can apply their skills, creativity, and passion to wildlife conservation.
Responsible for overseeing the Accounting functions of WCN including but not limited to:
Preparation of consolidated financial statements
Management of the monthly close process
Reconciliation of all bank and investment accounts monthly
Reconciliation of all other balance sheet accounts quarterly
Revenue reconciliation between Salesforce and Sage Intacct
Includes reconciliation of funds collected via online platforms: BofA Merchant Services, Paypal, Benevity, NFG, and others
Fund level financial statements including:
Monthly reconciliation of our five Wildlife Funds financial statements between Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and Grant databases / spreadsheets
Quarterly reconciliation of funds received on behalf of our 25 Partner organizations
Quarterly reconciliation of funds received on behalf of other organizations that WCN fiscally sponsors
Responsible for regulatory reporting including:
Quarterly Sales tax returns
Annual Charity returns for 37 States (prepared by Staff Accountants)
Business licenses and other tax filings
Reviewing and approving semi-monthly payroll
Reviewing weekly accounts payable
Serves as the primary point of contact for the Annual Audit and 990
Assists CFO with the preparation of the annual budget
Responsible for revenue and expense recognition and complying with current accounting rules and regulations for nonprofit organizations
Monitoring financial results and budgets and researching variances
Supports our Partner organizations with their accounting needs (primarily Quickbooks Online)
US Citizen or Green card holder
Fluency in English
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and 5-10 years of experience (preferably in nonprofit accounting)
Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail
Experience mentoring and training staff
Experience using cloud-based collaborative software including Google Drive, e-mail, etc.
Experience using Google Sheets and Excel with advanced functions (pivot tables, v-lookup, charts, etc.)
Experience with cloud based accounting software (prefer experience with Sage Intacct and Quickbooks Online)
Familiarity with Salesforce would be a plus
Experience with international payments and wire transfers would be a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate in and enjoy a collaborative, team-oriented culture

Compensation and benefits:
Compensation is expected to be in the $85,000 – $95,000 range based on qualifications and experience. In addition, benefits include: medical, dental, vision insurance contributions, chiropractic/acupuncture, basic life insurance, AD&D, Health FSA and Dependent care (pre-tax payroll dollars), a retirement plan where WCN matches 100% of employee’s contribution up to 5% of employee’s salary, 11 paid holidays with 1 paid floating holiday, 15 days of paid vacation
in the first year (+1 day per year worked), paid sick leave, and an employee discount program.
