Our mission is simple: we want to set people free to do meaningful work. People love our software—and it turns out that people love working here too. We’ve been recognized as a “Best Company to Work For” and we’re proud of our team for creating software that makes an impact in the lives of HR pros and employees all over the world.
What You’ll Do
As BambooHR’s Payroll Manager, you’ll ensure that each of our 1200+ internal Bambooligans is paid accurately and on time–-and you’ll use our own payroll product to do it! This means that not only will you run our full-cycle payroll process (from preparation, correction, and distribution to audits and payroll tax filings), but you’ll also be a key thought partner to our product team as they continue to improve our product’s payroll system.
Your day-to-day interactions will be primarily within our finance and HR teams (including compensation, benefits, accounting, FP&A, and payroll tax administration), but you’ll also have opportunities to interact with employees, managers, and leaders across all departments as they come to you for questions and support.
Some of your core areas of responsibility will include:
Bi-weekly Payroll: You’ll own and run our internal payroll process from start to finish, including gathering and preparing data and adjustments (i.e. compensation changes, terminations, etc.), and then process and submit within our Trax payroll system.
Manual Payrolls: When needed, you’ll run manual payrolls as well.
Multi-State Payroll Taxes: You’ll be deeply involved in multi-state payroll tax tasks, including tracking, reconciliation, and state payroll tax payments.
Compliance: You’ll keep track of each state’s payroll tax laws and regulations and ensure we’re compliant.
Year-End Processes: You’ll own our year-end payroll process, including reconciliation, filing, and preparing W2s for each employee.
Benefits Processing: You’ll assist with payroll-related 401k and HSA tasks, including reconciliation, uploads, corrections, and usage tracking.
Employee Support: You’ll provide a great payroll experience for our employees by answering questions they have, assisting them with time and attendance corrections, and educating them on payroll topics like W4s when needed.
Reporting: You’ll own our quarterly payroll tax reporting, including prep, reconciliations, & filings.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
You have 5-10 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience, including multiple years of payroll tax & compliance experience.
You’ve developed deep knowledge of multi-state payroll tax laws (including topics like writs of garnishment, child support, etc.)’
You’ve prepared annual W-2 forms for employees in a multi-state setting.
Research and analysis are your jam, and you have excellent Excel skills (some might say it’s “off the charts!”—pun intended).
You’re familiar with 401k reconciliation and payment processing.
“Resourceful” and “self-motivated” might as well be your middle names, as you love diving into projects independently and creating clarity within the messy middle.
You have a passion for puzzles/problem solving, and you enjoy diving into the nitty-gritty detail work of data reconciliation.
You care deeply about doing the right thing and living by the highest ethical standards-including handling confidential information with discretion.
What Will Make Us REALLY Love You
You’re a go-getter through and through. You love tackling unique problems, and you’re constantly on the hunt for new challenges so you can deepen your payroll skills.
You consider yourself a bit of a systems and software nerd, and the idea of advising and product testing around our payroll product really lights your fire!
You have experience submitting payroll tax filings and running manual payroll processes.
You really love cross-functional collaboration and consider yourself a strong communicator.
