Senior Staff Accountant reports to our Chief Financial Officer.
A Senior Accounting Professional provides a vital role within
the company, providing finance and accounting support to the CFO. The
Senior Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting
needs for V.N.A Corporation and its related Foundation. Their duties
include assuming a leadership role to guide accounting daily tasks,
reviewing financial data to utilizing data for forecasting
decisions.
Essential Job Functions, Duties and
Responsibilities
A Senior Staff Accountant is primarily
responsible in the maintenance of the general ledger to assist
Management with the company’s financial procedures, records, and
statements including compliance with laws and regulations. Here are
some of the usual duties:
· Perform and/or review in a
timely manner: daily and closing journal entries; account
reconciliations.
· Assist in the maintenance of the general
ledger for multiple entities
· Support the monthly close
process including bank reconciliations, and preparing and posting
adjustment entries
· Support semi-monthly payroll and
monthly vendor payments
· Assist with preparing and
monitoring budgets as well as ad hoc reporting and analysis as
requested
· Provide support to operations staff for ongoing
accounting issues
· Assist with the annual audit and
requests from audit staff
· Assist with the day-to-day,
monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department
including grant management and budget review and analysis.
· Perform the processing and recording of the AP transactions and
ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately
and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures.

Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and
receivables and work closely with the Development team to ensure that
revenues and receivables are reconciled at any given time.
· Prepare documentation for External Auditors.
· Review
expense coding to ensure grant compliance.
· Perform the
processing of functional and benefits expense allocation, monthly
accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation
and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, as
necessary.
· Prepare and analyze the month budget/forecast
to actual variance reports per program and department.
·
Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial
statements, budget performance, and interim grant financial
reporting.
· Analyze financial statements for discrepancies
and alert the CFO if necessary.
· Coordinate semi-annual
audits and Form 990 including preparing and reviewing work papers and
assist the CFO in running audits.
· Frequently provide
timely and accurate information in response to inquiries and reporting
that evidences a strong understanding of GAAP and Foundation policy
and procedure.
· Monitor daily cash balances, update and
monitor and alert management when necessary.

Position
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor of Science in
accounting. Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.
Experience:
5-7 years of accounting experience,
not-for-profit experience preferred
Public accounting
experience preferred
Microsoft office experience,
specifically Excel preferred
Experience maintaining
multiple ledgers
Supervisory experience desired
Healthcare experience a plus
Team player – exceptional
attention to detail – proactive – ability to success in fast paced and
ever-changing environment
