The Master of Science in Finance program office is responsible for recruitment, admissions, program management and all related functions for the MS Finance program. The MS Finance program is committed to transformative learning, a culture of inclusion, collegiality, cooperation, and teamwork. The program staff is responsible for admitting high-caliber students each fall in alignment with quantitative and qualitative success metrics established for the admissions cycle. The general responsibilities/duties aligned with this position are as follows.
Responsibilities and Duties
Advise prospective students on admissions, financial aid, housing and academic requirements.
Manage the admissions process.
Provide academic counseling for graduate students. Advise on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, transfer credit, and graduation.
Monitor student progress in honors and probation programs.
Evaluate student problems, academic, administrative or personal, and refer student to appropriate student services office for additional counseling. Assist with petition applications.
Maintain student records and coordinate registration activities, degree progress, enrollment, and degree verification.
Plan and coordinate student events including commencement, orientation, and receptions. Contract with vendors for services.
Maintain and compile statistical data. Prepare reports for internal and external use.
Gather financial data, assist in budget development, and monitor expenses.
Assist in the planning and execution of student recruitment strategies. Develop awareness of the MS in Finance Program by effectively communicating its benefits to potential students and employers by holding information sessions to inform prospective students of the program to advance their careers in finance.
Assist in preparation or update of bulletins, newsletters, handbooks, guides, fact sheets and brochures. Coordinate production of materials by outside vendors.
Modify existing program services or create new program offerings to maintain or enhance program standing and rankings.
Develop and administer program operating and administrative policies.
Plan and conduct program quality assurance reviews and recommend changes as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in student affairs, student development, counseling, higher education, or other related field.
Experience in academic advisement and/or student support services and programs at an accredited college/university.
Familiarity with University student information and advising systems.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information within FERPA and University guidelines.
Demonstrated communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal, presentation) to work with a variety of diverse constituents including students, families, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to meet student needs and department priorities.
