The Provost Office Business Team seeks an exceptionally creative, resourceful, and team-oriented self-starter to fill the position of Finance and Administration Manager. The primary support assignment for this position will be the units under Academic Administration and Undergraduate Education. While this is the primary support assignment, team members may be assigned to support additional areas or reassigned to support different areas as circumstances change. This position works autonomously with the supported units and reports to the Senior Manager of Finance and Administration.

Duties & Responsibilities
Manage accounting, budgeting, auditing, and other financial and administrative functions to ensure financial integrity of two major divisions within the Office of the Provost with budgets totaling over $10.2M.
Serve as Fiscal Officer and oversee All Funds multi-year budget planning for these areas in collaboration with senior leadership.
Analyze and interpret data and make recommendations for future needs and planning.
Provide monthly/quarterly financial reports to units and ad hoc managerial support analysis.
Oversee procurement and contracting activities in coordination with UA Purchasing department.
Oversee, review, approve, and initiate business functions/transactions.
Together with the senior Business Team leadership, meet at least quarterly with the leaders of supported departments.
Serve as the primary reference source and advisor to senior leadership and other department personnel.
Consult with these leaders on various administrative needs, including space, staffing, and compliance with University policies.
Research, analyze, summarize and interpret University and UA Foundation business policy and procedures.
Train and advise support staff in these units on policy and procedures and act as a liaison between department staff and central offices to resolve problems and provide informed financial counsel.
Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of professionals providing operational and tactical support; has influence on employee evaluations by providing performance feedback in relation to compliance, and position expectations related to the division’s overall goals and mission.
Instrumental in streamlining internal business processes and ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely fashion.
May supervise a small staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
Serve as a backup for other Office of the Provost Business Team staff.
Serve on departmental committees and assist with special projects.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles, practices, and procedures
Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft programs
Experience developing and analyzing Excel budget reports and forecasting
Ability to be analytical and detail-oriented
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
Ability to collaborate across teams
Experience with developing training materials
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or related field
Experience with University of Arizona policies and procedures
Prior University of Arizona accounting experience
Experience with current University of Arizona and University of Arizona Foundation business systems and processes, including UAccess Financials, and UAccess Analytics
Experience with Axiom and Request for Budget Changes
