UBMD Pediatrics is one of 18 practice plans within UBMD Physicians’ Group, the single largest medical group in Western New York. We provide premier health care to infants, children, adolescents and adults. In addition to primary care pediatrics, we have 14 pediatric subspecialties. General Summary: The Research Finance Manager is an integral part of developing and managing the research strategic vision of the organization. This position is responsible for financial and administrative oversight of the research team for both Grants and Clinical Trials across the department. Supervises research team members and their workflow to meet deadlines and ensure adherence to all recordkeeping requirements.
Tracks and ensures all subcontract are executed and invoicing is completed. Monitors financial expenditures and ensures department approvals are secured timely and are in accordance with award guidelines and reports to management as needed. Identifies areas requiring improvement and develops new methodologies to achieve outcomes. As a liaison for the Department of Pediatrics, will work collaboratively with the PI’s, UB Sponsored Project Services Department, Research Sponsors, and Department of Pediatric accounting personnel.
Is responsible for oversight of all phases of the grant process (pre-award and post-award) to ensure budgetary compliance in accordance with guidelines as set forth by FOA (funding opportunity announcement). Monitors the effectiveness of the grant process and makes adjustment as needed to ensure optimal efficiency of all processes. Audits processes regularly to ensure delivery of high-quality award administrative support is maintained consistently.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, finance or a related field
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a research or academic setting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Strong knowledge of research finance, grant administration, and regulations.
· Proficient in financial analysis, budget development, and financial reporting.
· Experience with financial management systems
· Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
· Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to addressing challenges
