The Staff Accountant reports to the Senior Staff Accountant, and is located in Bedford Park, IL.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, detailed reports, and account reconciliations and assist the Accounting Manager with general accounting duties.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
CPA preferred
1-3 years accounting experience
6-months experience working heavy data entry with the emphasis on timeliness and accurac
Foodservice industry experience preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calculate and distribute sales reports
Month-end close journal entries
Prepare bank reconciliations
Analysis of financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting & procedural standards
Assist with system related issues
Assist with budget preparation through the preparation of periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
Distribute and Reconcile petty cash
Backup to other Accounting department positions
Assist with accounting & administrative projects as requested
Miscellaneous Accounting duties
Conduct oneself in a professional manner that fosters positive relationships with internal (company personnel) and external (vendors) customers
Protects the Company’s value by keeping information confidential
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
Other duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical skills
Excellent math skills including arithmetic, calculus, statistics and their applications
Strong Working knowledge and understanding of economic accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis of financial data
Basic to intermediate understanding of GAAP
Working knowledge of business and management principles
10-Key proficiency of 8,000+ KSPH
Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, & Outlook
Easily learn and adapt to new accounting software
Understanding of databases and queries
Excellent communications skills both written and oral
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with others
Ability to multi-task at a high level
Strong organizational skills
Strong sense of ownership
Excellent sales & customer service attitude
Ability to take the initiative
Ability to work independently
A desire to learn about the foodservice business
Understanding of integrated systems preferred
