Overview
The Judge Group is currently seeking an Accountant II to join our Finance and Accounting in Wayne, PA. The Accountant II is responsible for maintaining financial records, ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded and financial reports and statement and/or analysis requiring in-depth understanding, interpretation and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practice and compliance reporting requirements. This position requires the skill to communicate effectively, technical accounting information and activities within and outside the finance department.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare Balance Sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports
2. Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
3. Audit accounting and financial documents for accuracy and compliance with departmental policies and procedures as well as state and federal statutes
4. Research and reconcile discrepancies in accounts, bank statements, or appropriation balances; and report findings
5. Review company accounting records such as expenditure, fund, appropriation balances; and report findings
6. Prepare timely and accurate monthly schedules within pre-defined deadlines which are required for clean monthly/quarterly submissions
7. Manage quality of daily processing and demonstrate an ability to support level 1 team members with guidance on processing challenging items
8. Assist in making recommendations for improvements, adaptations, or revisions to the accounting system and accompanying procedures.
Qualifications
1. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems
2. Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory; to interpret laws and regulations; to work accurately with numerical detail; to analyze, consolidate and interpret accounting date; and to communicate effectively
3. Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
EDUCATION & TRAINING
1. BA/BS from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Accounting or Finance
2. CPA or CMA, or equivalent knowledge and experience desired
3. Minimum 2-3 years of progressive work experience
4. Experience in accounting and financial operations and strong financial skills
5. Experience with Accounting software such as Unit 4 or Great Plains
