Department Overview:
The Americas Division (AD) was established in the Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, New York Branch) (SMTBNY) to perform corporate functions and supervise U.S. entities. Established under the AD are the Global Banking Unit (GBU), Americas Division and Global Markets Unit (GMU), Americas Division which performs business functions. Financial Risk Management (FRM), as the second line of defense in the Branch, provides independent measurement, monitoring and evaluation services related to Financial Risks (Credit, Market and Liquidity), in addition to the efforts by process/business owners (Global Banking Unit and Global Market Unit) as the first line of defense. FRM establishes appropriate policies, procedures, and the risk management framework to evaluate the financial risks inherent in the Branch operations. FRM also conducts special scenarios analysis to quantitatively and qualitatively assess financial risk faced by the Branch and provides objective assessment of the Financial Risk to the Branch Management and the Head Office. FRM is directly involved in all financial risk related projects, matters and issues.
Summary:
Treasury Administration is looking to hire someone proficient in quantitative analysis, programming macros, and managing large datasets for middle office role. Will support team in generating daily market and liquidity risk reports, monitoring regulatory compliance, and other ad hoc tasks.
Position Overview:
Prepares the daily risk management reports regarding market risk, such as interest rate risk and foreign exchange risk, and liquidity risk and inter-bank settlement risk. Analyzes and reports conditions of market risk and liquidity risk, as well as performance of market operations
Monitors the usage of risk and loss limits to ensure they are not exceeded and reports the excess of the limits to appropriate persons/departments. Analyzes and reports conditions of market risk and liquidity risk, as well as performance of market operations.
Operates risk management systems and captures market data and inputs them into systems.
Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly and quarterly reports, plus certain compliance monitoring reports.
Responsible for preparation and maintenance of Minutes
Drafts updates/revisions to the department’s Procedure Manual which detail appropriate procedures for risk analysis and reporting, and the procedures for the preservation of documents.
Prepares necessary documentation for examination and audit process. Interfaces with examiners/auditors and handles examination/audit process responsibilities, as directed by the Head of the Department.
Provides training to department staff, as appropriate and as needed.
Files reports and documents.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelors degree or equivalent with a major in statistics or economics or in quantitative discipline with 2
years of experience
Excellent PC skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.
VBA, SQL skills with experience in creating reports preferred.
Experience in a financial institution environment, especially related to securities or financial market products, preferred.
Familiarity with credit analysis practices, preferred.
Excellent written and verbal business communication skills.
Strong quantitative and computer skills.
Must have good organizational skills.
Physical Demands
Occasional lifting of heavy files.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
