The Director of Accounting & Finance reports to the CFO and is a part of the Senior Leadership Team. This position is a full-time year-round position, on-site (not remote), and may be required to work holidays and weekends, during the ski season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
o Preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, monitoring deferred revenue accounts; Audit accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
o Month end close and financial statement preparation – Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow; ensure that the reported results comply with GAAP or other financial reporting standards
o Internal Controls and policies – Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls
o Annual Financial Audit
o Tax filings and Audits – Preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns, including revenue sharing agreements with the USFS and other governmental agencies
o Workman’s Comp Audits
o 401K Testing
o Report daily business activity and forecast weekly business performance
o Weekly board reports, providing transparency into key business metrics
o Monthly EBITDA and Cash forecasts
o Monthly Departmental Budget vs Actual reviews with department heads
o Quarterly Board reports
o Provide financial analysis related to capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
o Collaborate on short-and long-term financial objectives
o Develop and track key financial objectives and metrics
o Prepare and support a long-range strategic fiscal plan – Synthesize and analyze financial information and trends, develop and maintain multi-year financial planning model and provide alternatives to inform effective decision-making and planning
QUALIFICATIONS:
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees a small finance team within the Accounting Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
