Hours: Increased hours during tax season and enjoy Fridays off between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Location: 100% Remote

Pay Range: $75,000 – $95,000 (based upon experience)

Job Summary

Student Loan Tax Experts (SLTE) is a niche tax firm that specializes in providing its clients with exceptional service and indispensable methods of addressing their large student loan debt via their annual tax return.

STLE does all of the client acquisition and networking, but is seeking a competent individual to lead the tax return analysis, review, completion, and final sign off. STLE is in “growth-mode” and wants a Tax Manager who is excited about helping build and shape the company.

STLE is seeking a motivated, self-sufficient, tech-savvy, tax professional with management experience or who desires a management role. As Tax Manager, you would be responsible for leading a team of tax professionals (currently 3 – 4) through the pre-tax, tax, and post-tax seasons. This requires a proactive team player, who is accountable (and can hold others accountable) in a 100% remote work environment. As Tax Manager, you will have administrative assistance, but need to excel at scheduling and prioritizing your time to always meet or exceed deadlines.

Job Description:

Duties:

• Communicating with financial advisors, business owners, and high-income individuals. o Successfully complete at least 175 client returns independently. o Student loan planning and tax projections (no experience required). o Using these modern software tools (we are happy to train you!):
• ProConnectTax, Karbon (Workflows), BNA Tax Planning, Less Annoying CRM, Slack, and Google (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, etc).
• Participating in professional development along with setting personal & professional goals.
• Embodying a “can do” & “no job too big/no job too small” attitude.

Management/Leadership:

• Manage, review, and provide oversight to the team of fulltime and part-time tax return preparers working remotely for the company.
• Reviewing tax returns of staff members (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120s, Schedule C & E forms).
• Will provide regular and off-season training to team members in order to ensure the team is properly prepared to execute another successful tax season.

Role Requirements/Competencies:

• Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Accounting or Business Management with emphasis in Accounting.
• Must be a technical expert with 5+ years in individual and business tax return preparation.
• Management experience is preferred.
• Must be a CPA or Enrolled Agent, able to handle all correspondence with the IRS.
