The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant 3 in Las Vegas. This position is located within the Nevada Division of Public & Behavioral Health, Community Services Branch, Office of HIV in Las Vegas.
The incumbent will support the Ryan White CARES, Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA), Prevention, and Surveillance Programs of the Office of HIV. The incumbent reviews requests for reimbursement for the Ryan White Part B, Nevada Medication Assistance and HOPWA programs; projects future costs and tracks pharmaceutical rebates; monitors fiscal transactions from subrecipients and vendors to ensure expenditures are in conformance with Federal, State and department regulations and budgetary limits; and develops budgetary reports in conjunction with the RWPB Management Analyst II and the Prevention and Surveillance Grants & Projects Analyst I. The incumbent will be responsible for the initial creation of subawards, amendments, work orders and memorandums of understanding with assistance from the RWPB Management Analyst II and other programmatic staff. The incumbent reviews budget modification requests from subrecipients and works very closely with the RWPB Management Analyst II and the Prevention and Surveillance Grants & Projects Analyst I to ensure compliance with Federal, State and department regulations and budgetary limits. The incumbent also works closely with the Office of HIV’s Administrative Assistant II in creating purchase orders and requisitions and other necessary fiscal documents. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
