What is the purpose
The PCRO (Post Closing Rights and Obligations) class of business is managing the Shell’s residual rights and obligations after exiting businesses / countries, resulting from operations in 80+ countries over the last 110 years. Post-Reshape, the combined PCRO business will incorporate global DS, UP, and IG PCROs. The combined global PCRO organization will continue to manage a material legacy position within IG, UP, and DS, including Monitor legacy risks; Safely and effectively manage the financial and reputational issues from A&D deals, business closures, asset and country exits, former products sold and issues with no other “home”; Decommission and remediate redundant assets; Win and settle litigated/non-litigated legal and tax claims.
Finance advisor role serves as the face of Finance for specific business opportunities or challenges, prioritized based on value and risk. They are responsible for the satisfactory delivery of the Finance capabilities required to support a set of clearly defined business outcomes on the project/transaction involved, which will be delivered by “One Finance”, including Business Finance, Centers of Expertise and/or Finance Operations. Members of PCRO finance team are exposed to a wide range of finance activities across numerous entities around the globe. As a result, team members are involved in the full spectrum of finance procedures from end-to-end, rather than being specialists.
Finance Advisor
What is the role
As a Finance Advisor, you will be responsible of the following duties:
Responsible for the wide range of finance activities within UP, DS, and / or IG, while finding solutions and driving closure for the unusual in nature & one-off matter
Oversee and deliver annual/quarterly Business and Finance exercises (annual provision review, business plan, LEs, etc.)
Ensure Finance risks are integrated into the full value and risk discussion, supporting business decision making for specific opportunities
Partner with the multiple complex Business and Technical lines (SGW, Legal, Tax, etc.) representing the voice of Finance on projects and portfolio activities and ensure delivery of financial and business commitments safely, reliably and in compliance with approved policies, procedures, and accounting guidelines
Support the implementation of a robust Business Control Framework and related performance management framework for opportunities of own portfolio
Provide strong and effective fiscal leadership, including finance and business support, analysis, performance appraisal, project support commercial contracting insight, and controllership; Being a CFO of the managed portfolio
Leverage knowledge of the business environment and its impact on performance to articulate and propose opportunities and/or areas of value leakage
Lead and drive process improvement and excellence as One Finance team delivering both at site and with Shell’s Global finance teams in Chennai and Manila as well as across departmental boundaries
Work on various opportunities across the combined PCRO portfolio, which may not be dedicated to a specific activity or region
Requirements
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Candidate must have minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience.
Bachelor’s degree Accounting / Finance is required; Professional certification(s) is preferred.
Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process and risk management.
Demonstrate creativity in solving unusual in nature problems and ability to seek solutions for end-to-end processes
Broad Finance knowledge and expertise to understand the implications of business activities on CoE content (accounting, taxation, and treasury)
Ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties, building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value and risk
Ability to apply a risk-based, practical approach to problem solving, coupled with the ability to rationalize decisions with uncertainty and incomplete information
Flexibility and agility to deploy the appropriate Finance skills to address specific and varying business needs
Ability to work in global and complex environments, with various levels of business leaders, FitB, CoEs, FO
Deep “Shell” knowledge: diverse understanding of Shell practices and broad knowledge of DS, UP and / or IG businesses
Knowledge of accounting principles and ability to translate policies into practical reporting solutions
Ability to work independently and simultaneously solving several diverse issues
Creativity in solving unusual in nature problems and ability to seek solutions for end-to-end processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to relay financial information to people with different financial backgrounds
Ability to understand end users’ needs and translate into successful delivery
