Director of Finance and Operations – August 2022 Position Summary: Second Wind Fund (SWF) is a 501(c)(3) Colorado-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide in children and youth by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment. SWF services are provided in 30 counties across Colorado. Since 2002, SWF has provided life-saving services to over 7,000 Colorado youth.SWF is seeking a full-time position – 40 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience. Join a small but mighty team of seven fellow staffers at an organization with a life-saving mission!The Director of Finance and Operations will lead in the following areas: general accounting, payroll, auditing, human resources, IT, insurance and record keeping. The Director of Finance and Operations reports to the Executive Director and does not manage or supervise any staff.Principal Responsibilities and Duties: Finance: Maintain accurate and compliant financial information and reports for the organization using QuickBooks Nonprofit and other accounting software, as required.Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements. Oversee accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy of transactions and proper implementation of internal controls.Record and deposit cash, checks, credit card transactions, and other forms of payment.Manage Account Payable process including entry into QuickBooks, preparation of checks, debit card transactions, and mailing of payments to vendors and therapists.Manage month and year end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting including journal entries, functional allocations, and reconciliation of all accounts.Maintain vendor files and prepare 1099-MISC forms at year end.Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management and Board of Directors.Provide financial schedules, account analysis and other relevant information for coordination of the annual audit, 990 tax return, and grant reporting requirements.Prepare and file the annual 990 tax return and extensions.Work with Executive Director and Finance Committee to develop, monitor, and manage annual organization budget. Serve as the staff-lead for the Board Finance Committee.Manage payroll processing, reporting, and records including submitting information online to payroll processor, and reviewing payroll reports for accuracy.Maintain organized fiscal records for the organization – both electronic and paper files.Prepare inventory report and account for all fixed asset equipment and depreciation.Work with Executive Director, Program Director and Development Director on SWF’s Leadership Team.Collaborate with Development Director to prepare grant submissions and required reports.Collaborate with Program Director on Programmatic Policies and Procedures as it relates to staff and SWF Providers.Operations: Oversee HR processes and policies, including Employee Handbook.Maintain all employee records and information in an accurate and up to date manner which meets legal requirements and industry standards.On-board and off-board all new and exiting employees (i.e. standard employment paperwork, setting up laptops and accounts, user licenses, apps, etc.)Renew and manage employee benefit plans including health, dental, vision, life, retirement, and fringe benefits.Responsible for managing insurance needs, including maintaining relationship with provider and reviewing renewal policies.Serve as a liaison to all organization’s vendors; maintain & order supplies.Perform general IT support for office such as network connectivity, system upgrades, domain renewal, minor equipment malfunctions, and hardware management. Work with IT consultant to resolve IT issues, manage software updates, and oversee purchase of new computers as necessary.Oversight of office management (supplies, printers, phone system).Train other staff members, as needed, regarding fiscal and operations goals, policies, systems, and procedures.Support and perpetuate the overall vision and mission of the SWF and decisions of Executive Director and Board of Directors.Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Executive Director.Qualifications and Requirements:
