This position manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting department staff responsible for general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivables, billing, cash receipts, grants and contracts, reconciliations and payroll. This position is responsible for all aspects of financial asset management, credit applications, credit card management, budgeting, financial forecasting, and report writing. The Finance Director will monitor and analyze accounting data to produce necessary financial reports. Dissemination of financial and accounting information to the organization, Board of Directors, stakeholders and funders is a function of this position.
·Build the financial depth and proficiency of the organization’s financial picture, reimbursements and the long-term sustainability of operations.
·Supports the recruitment, hiring, training and retention of Finance team members to fill openings and anticipate future needs of the organization.
·Learn the organization, understand, and support the work of the organization, the systems of care, and the culture and talents residing in the team.
·Develop, implements, and maintains GAAP and internal controls, financial policies and practices, providing direction for the Finance team.
·Manages all financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, operations, and reporting.
·Works with executive and senior staff to prepare the annual budget.
·Analyzes organizational, departmental, and program expenses and revenues.
·Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; assisting with regulatory, contract and grant reporting.
·Provides information and financial reporting for grant applications, resource allocations, forecasting, draw downs and spend downs.
·Oversees payroll processing, maintains records, ensures accuracy and completion of all quarterly and annual filings of payroll taxes, workers compensation, and other reporting to Federal and State agencies.
·Directs annual audits and oversees any filings and organizational reporting of same.
·Reviews bank deposits, AP checks, wire transfers and performs monthly bank reconciliations.
·Monitors bank accounts, investment activities, and maintains line of credit.
·Oversees cash flow management and reports semi-monthly on cash position.
·Ensure that the Board, leadership, partners and funders receive up-to-date financial reporting to make sound decisions about the operations and strategic direction for the organization.
·Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
·Develops and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with community finance, accounting, banking, and auditing firms and other vendors.
·Ensure that Finance staff have clarity about the core direction for the organization and their role in supporting operational and strategic plans.
Requirements
Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or economics
MBA or CPA is preferred
5+ years of finance/accounting or fund/non-profit accounting experience
High analytical and extremely detailed
Experience with multiple financial and accounting reporting systems, Quickbooks Enterprise preferred
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
