SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Associate to join our interdisciplinary Chemical Biology & Proteomics team.
This role will be supporting our Scientists with experimental design and execution of biochemical and mass spectrometry-based assays including proteomics workflows for fungal and mammalian cells.
Successful candidates will have the eagerness to learn and have a passion for mass spectrometry-based proteomics and chemical biology approaches in drug discovery.
Responsibilities Assist with experimental design and laboratory execution of biochemical and mass-spectrometry based assays including chemo-proteomics workflows (IP-MS and activity-based proteomics) towards the identification and characterization of novel protein-ligand interactions.
Prepare samples including protein isolation from mammalian cells, human tissues and/or fungal extracts, sub-cellular fractionation, immuno- or chemical affinity enrichment to selectively enrich and quantify proteins from complex biological systems Assist with routine sample preparation for established protocols and contribute to the assay development and optimization.
Collaborate with members of the Chemical Biology & Proteomics group, as well as with departments across the Company to advance our science.
Interest in learning automation of workflows including protein digestion, desalting, peptide quantitation and chemical labelling of peptides for multiplexing.
A desire to become familiar with routine usage of Thermo Orbitrap mass spectrometers with multi-dimensional LC fractionation and high-throughput quantitative proteomics methodologies such as TMT , SILAC, and/or Label-free approaches.
Perform MS instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance evaluation.
Perform mass spectrometric data analysis using Xcalibur, Proteome Discoverer, MaxQuant, Skyline and Spectronaut software for Data Dependent (DDA) and Independent (DIA) methods.
Skill Set BA/BS or MSc degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical proteomics, or related disciplines with 3
years of research experience.
Experience with basic biology and biochemistry techniques, such as cell lysing, protein extraction and identification using complex biological matrices and proteins Experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including proteome profiling, PTM, protein-protein interaction, chemo proteomics, etc.
Desire to learn how to follow and develop protocols and perform affinity/activity-based chemoproteomics pull-down experiments both for in-lysate and whole-cell workflows.
Knowledge of proteomics principles and hands-on expertise in technologies such as bottom-up and top-down mass spectrometry-based applications for in-vitro quantitative proteomics is a bonus.
The successful candidate should be self-motivated, enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic team environment, and be inspired to develop and apply new technologies to advance projects efficiently.
Excellent written, organizational and documentation skills.
