Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager-Patient Financial Services (Inpatient).
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for managing inpatient Non-Government denials, DRG audits and working with the Managed Care plans to resolve the aged receivable and systemic issues including credits. Oversees team of analysts who are responsible for validating quality and accuracy of escalated accounts for submission to insurance provider relations representatives and outside appeal vendors. Participates in all Joint Operation Committee calls with the Managed Care plans to discuss and resolve the aged receivable. Prepares and validates all settlement files for submission to Office of Managed Care.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Manage team of analysts and department operationsfor receivables escalated to insurance provider relations representatives andoutside vendors.
Responsible for validating quality and accuracyof revolving spreadsheets and settlement files for submission to insuranceprovider relations representatives and/or Managed Care plans.
Participate in bi-weekly calls with the PatientFinancial Services follow up staff to resolve complex accounts and issuesrequiring escalation.
Conduct various payer calls with insuranceprovider relations representatives to escalate trends and issues to optimize AccountsReceivable resolution.
Analyze denials and payment variances fromexpected collections to identify root cause and systemic issues for reportingpayer trends
Manage relationshipwith external inpatient appeal vendors and conduct expense analysis andperformance tracking.
Collaborate withIT and management in decision making regarding process flow for EPIC patientaccounting system.
Facilitate theimplementation of policies, procedures and process documentation clearlyspecifying workflows, roles, and responsibilities required to carry out thegoals of the department.
Monitoremployees performance including employee productivity, quality reviews, andannual assessments.
Workcollaboratively with other departments to improve workflows to resolve issuesand achieve departmental goals.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Bachelors Degree in healthcare related field, Accounting/Finance or a related field. Thorough understanding of reimbursement systems, EPIC, and process improvement methodologies. Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Proactively support quality and performance improvement efforts within the Organization and proactively contribute to meeting team goals. High level of analytical skills and dynamic communication skills (verbal and written) are required. Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency required. Skilled in data extraction, manipulation and analysis required.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a To qualify you must have 3-5 years of working experience in the managerial role of a Financial Services department, knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, as well as have demonstrated critical thinking and technical analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in business administration or healthcare administration or related field.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
