Overview
The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is
responsible for preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal
and external financial statement reports (e.g., reports to the Board
of Directors, NCUA Call Report, annual report, retirement plans) and
ensure compliance of such financial statements with management
standards, US GAAP, and other applicable regulatory requirements. To
support the optimization of business operations and financial data by
analyzing actual results, trends, and external factors.
This position also has responsibility to perform key financial
analysis and performance metrics ensuring solid understanding of
monthly, quarterly and annual variances and trends.
Responsibilities
Gather, prepare, and analyze data for
various monthly, quarterly, and annual financial, compliance and
internal reports
Ability to organize large volumes of data to
create meaningful analysis and trend reports
Monitor and analyze
new and existing accounting guidance, federal regulations, and
emerging accounting policies to ensure that Navy Federal is in
compliance with applicable reporting standards and recommend changes
as necessary
Prepare ad hoc and required industry and regulatory
reports, including audit inquires in compliance with internal and
external regulations
Prepare/collaborate on presentations,
reports, white papers, etc.
Serve as a subject matter expert to
address and resolve audit questions and findings identified by
internal and external auditors (e.g., NCUA, CFPB, and contracted third
parties)
Assist in the analysis of highly complex transactions to
determine proper disclosure in the financial statements
Contribute to quality control and process improvement by conducting
in-depth analyses to identify, isolate and resolve discrepancies and
inefficiencies by actively collaborating and communicating across
NFCU’s various departments as necessary
Serve as resource for the
resolution of complex and/or unique issues
Build and maintain
relationships with team members, other departments, management, and
external contacts (vendors, auditors, etc.). Serve as point of contact
for inquiries and problem resolution in collaboration with all levels
of management and staff.
Participate in special projects from
beginning to conclusion, including the development and implementation
of systems of large scope and scale and automated financial systems
improvement initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,
related field or the equivalent combination of training, education,
and experience
Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
license
Experience in applying techniques used in analyzing and
reporting financial information
Experience in public and/or
private accounting applying accounting treatments and resolving
accounting issues
Advanced skill working with financial
accounting systems used in the management and analysis of financial
data, including but not limited to PeopleSoft, Hyperion Essbase,
Workiva, Tableau, data querying and reporting
Effective skill in
handling multiple tasks simultaneously and delivering on work products
timely
Advanced research, analytical, and problem solving
skills
Advanced skill exercising initiative and use of good
judgment to make sound decisions
Ability to work independently
and in a team environment
Advanced skill collaborating with
various external/internal technical and/or functional contacts
Expert skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and
meeting deadlines
Expert verbal and written communication skills,
including the ability to communicate findings, conclusions, and
alternatives for unique accounting topics
Effective database and
presentation software skills
Advanced word processing,
spreadsheet and presentation software skills

Experience with financial institutions, such
as credit unions or banks
Hands on Sarbanes-Oxley experience,
whether auditing or performing control activities

to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting
onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee’s leadership and
