Montgomery County Government seeks a full-time attorney for its Division of Finance and Procurement to act as primary counsel to the County’s Department of Finance and to provide legal advice to County management-level personnel, generally, on County fiscal, accounting, economic development, and tax matters that have a potentially significant impact on County government as a whole.
The successful applicant must also represent the County before the Maryland Tax Court, other applicable administrative bodies and State and Federal courts, as appropriate.
Applicant is required to have a J.D. and at least one year of post-degree legal experience. Salary is negotiable based on experience.
Position may be filled at:
level, grade N32. Salary range $93,704 – $154,469.
level, grade N27. Salary range $75,410 – $124,198.
level, grade N24. Salary range $65,786 – $107,934.

Minimum Qualifications
At the level, Grade N32:
Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.
Experience: Thorough (four (4) years) experience as an attorney, including some specialized (one (1) year) experience involving either local government law or financial, tax, and/or litigation experience.
Equivalency: None.
At the level, Grade N27:
Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience as an attorney, including trial experience.
Equivalency: None.
At the level, Grade N24:
Education: Graduation from an accredited university school of law.
Experience: One (1) year of post degree experience as a law clerk or in a similar capacity.
Equivalency: None.
LICENSE: Membership in the Maryland State Bar. Note: There will be no substitutions for this section.
Preferred Criteria
All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated “Qualified,” placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for interview.
