FINANCE DIRECTOR

Midlands Community Foundation (MCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves other nonprofit organizations in Sarpy and Cass counties and manages over 160 charitable funds. MCF’s mission is to be a catalyst for lasting impact in Sarpy and Cass counties and to give opportunities to organizations and individuals so that they can pursue their charitable goals.
Job Description
This individual is responsible for all aspects of accounting functions including general ledger management, donor-based software management, financial statements, payroll, reconciling monthly investment reports, preparing monthly fund statements, invoicing and disbursements of all general and charitable funds. This position also will lead the annual audit and prepare the annual budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administer all daily/month end functions of the accounting including cash and accounts payable.
Process bi-weekly payroll.
Manage cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
Prepare monthly investment fund allocations and quarterly management fee calculation to all charitable funds.
Provide needed financial guidance and/or information to support all MCF funds.
Present and report accurate and timely historical financial information to the Executive Director and Finance Committee.
Develop and monitor the annual operating budget.
Maintain donor and financial software databases.
Coordinate the external audit and accumulate data necessary to ensure the proper filing of federal tax forms.
Annual preparation of 1099’s and miscellaneous tax filings.
Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, policies, processes tools and control systems.
Perform all other tasks requested by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (nonprofit experience preferred).
Five to ten years of experience in various accounting fields.
Experience with financial and donor software (Financial & Raisers Edge preferred).
Intermediate Excel experience required.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
