Summary:
This key position will support the recurring and project-based needs of the institute’s Strategic Finance & Analytics (“SFA”) organization. It will also organize and facilitate high priority projects and team deliverables. The ideal candidate takes initiative, possesses strong technical knowledge, and exercises effective communication skills.
This role will primarily support the SFA group with:
Effectively carrying out and promoting the internal Business Planning process, including:
Project-based financial diligence
Pro-forma financial analysis/forecasting
Coordination of financial findings with project narrative documents
Managing and enhancing the institute’s long-term financial model, comprising the following components:
Income Statement forecast
Balance Sheet forecast
Cash Flow Forecast
Principal financial metrics for executive audiences
Other responsibilities, including, but no limited to:
Generating and communicating strategic financial insights at an elevated level
Ensuring interdepartmental coordination with related projects
Participation in the Capital Budgeting process
Critical Requirements:
Success in/with a corporate finance function is a critical requirement
Working knowledge of:
GAAP financial statements,
Accounting principles, and
Valuation techniques
A high level of Financial Modeling competence and agility
Ability to succeed amidst changing priorities and processes
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Ability to distill and clearly communicate salient points to executive audience

M.D. Anderson is currently undertaking various operational and capital projects and relies on the Strategic Finance team’s ability to: develop and track critical financial analytics; undertake discovery and diligence related to both existing and novel operational projects; as well as communication and translation of findings to differing audiences.
Individuals in this role will be expected to regularly interact with others in a professional manner; establish and maintain positive rapport; manage expectations; practice effective self-review; and deliver professional-quality work products.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
Required Experience:
Five years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or related field to include at least three years of supervisory or project management experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
Preferred Experience/Skills:
Experience with building financial forecasts and models in a corporate FP&A environment, understanding of balance sheet transactions, excellent senior management level communication skills (written and verbal). Experience using Epic and Oracle based on financial reporting and analysis tools.
Work Schedule:
Work schedule will be 25% on-site with potential for full time remote.
