Since 2018, the client is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a leading engineering services group. In the last five years, the client has increased its revenue by 70% and its operating profit by 180%.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The firm seeks an experienced individual in operations, business development, and marketing with a proven track record of attracting and developing clients and leading professional staff. The Executive Vice President will be responsible for expanding the firm’s integrated services to augment current strategic business lines and develop new business lines, along with the expansion of the firm’s geographic area and client base within the northeast corridor. The primary geographic areas of interest for expansion are considered New York City, New York State, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Connecticut. The main business lines for expansion are Construction Supervision and Program Management for the Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, Utility, and Energy sectors. The Executive Vice President will be responsible and accountable for the business development, general management, and operations for the specific geographic areas and business lines mentioned above. It is anticipated the successful candidate will possess significant client experience. Also, they will have significant industry contacts that will assist in recruiting.
LINE OF REPORTING:
As the firm’s Executive Vice President, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on operations and business development, work closely with the firm’s clients, and manage professional staff and select department heads. As a key executive management team member (key staff), you will directly interact and communicate with the Chairman of the Board of Directors on corporate strategy formulation and actions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Formulate and execute the company strategy to expand its footprint within the US northeast corridor, based on the Board of Directors guidelines
· Report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on operations and business development day-to-day activities
· Work collaboratively with the key staff and senior-level management to formulate and implement strategies that promote effective firm growth
· Be a fierce promoter of the company with the goal of continued smart, aggressive growth through the expansion of new clients and opportunities
· Form, develop, and lead, as the focal point, new company’s business lines and sectors.
· Maintain and cultivate existing client relationships through hard work, responsiveness, and a dedication to delivering quality projects/programs that serve the client’s best interest
· Manage and grow staff to proactively provide clients with the highest level of responsiveness and quality deliverables
· Work closely with staff to ensure proper financial and budget controls are being adhered to
· Attract and develop energetic, forward-thinking professionals who focus on company growth, client satisfaction, and advancement within the firm
· Oversee and counsel department heads with preparing technical and cost proposals and business development strategies for new and existing clients
· Travel is expected in order to meet with clients, attend meetings, etc.
· Adhere to internal corporate standards, policies, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural/Environmental Engineering from a four-year college/university
· A Licensed Professional Engineer in New York or New Jersey; multi-state PE licenses would be a plus
· 20 years of related engineering experience
· Strong knowledge of Energy/Utilities, Transportation and Construction Management & Structural Inspection services and sectors; diversification of experience is critical, which would include Highway Design, and Project Management and Program Management
· Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to attract new clients to the firm
· Track record of successful project execution with State agencies (i.e., NY, NJ, CT & PA, and other northeastern states)
· Strong attention to detail with excellent marketing, business development, financial and operational skills, and judgment capabilities
· Adept at writing and reviewing winning project proposals
· Exceptional managerial and interpersonal skills; strong EQ with the ability to operate within and adapt to different cultures
· Ability to form strategic alliances and partnering opportunities with other engineering firms.
