The Kennebec Sanitary Treatment District, a quasi-municipal organization with 13 employees serving the municipalities of Benton, Fairfield, Waterville and Winslow, has an immediate opportunity for a full time Finance Manager. We offer competitive pay and an excellent benefits package.
Responsibilities will include performing all accounting functions, including billing and preparing all journal and ledger entries; supervising collection of District member fees and receivables; maintaining cash, bank and other records; monitoring revenue and coordinating District investment activity with operating cash flow needs; assisting in annual budget process, including capital budgets and planning long-term debt; coordinating payroll, employee benefits and day to day human resources needs; managing the office, including supervision of one staff member; assisting auditors in preparing for the annual audit; and preparing the balance sheet and income statements.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business, or the equivalent in education and closely related work experience; at least 5 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility, including supervision, principles and practices of accounting, with demonstrated ability to take all phases of accounting through the complete accounting cycle; experience with financial software including Intuit QuickBooks, Pensoft payroll program and Microsoft Excel/Outlook/Word strongly preferred. Experience with best management practices for municipal spending and budgeting preferred but not required.
