About the Position: Grant Writer / Manager, Req.# 207924
This position will be located at our Kansas Department of Corrections Central Office, in Shawnee County.

Compensation: $46,092.80 to $68,182.40/Annual ($22.16 to $32.78/Hr.)*
* Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications. Though this position is unclassified, pay is equivalent to classified Pay Grade 29, Steps 4-20.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: This position provides overall management of the department’s grant seeking and management.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Develop training for staff regarding grant practices, as appropriate for the discipline, including how to identify appropriate grants, how to pursue grants, how to write grants, and how to manage grants.
Work closely with research to identify data trends needed when writing grants consistent with the grant plan and establish a method for quickly accessing data when preparing a grant application.
Work with staff to assist in writing grants, taking the lead in writing when appropriate, and supporting other staff when appropriate.
Ensure grants submitted are high quality, timely submitted, and comply with all the requirements of the grantee.
Maintain registrations as necessary so grants can be submitted.
Ensure that grant applications include in the budgets when allowed funds to support fiscal and project management staff to manage the fiscal and project management work of the grants.
Consult with fiscal on budgets to ensure they accurately reflect the cost of staff and services requested in the grant.
Develop partnerships within and without the department to support grant applications, developing opportunities for letters of support, memoranda of agreement, matching funds or services, and funding blending opportunities.
Work with grant project staff to establish data tracking and grant reporting as required, and ensure reports are timely accomplished.
Track grant-funded positions and resources to ensure commitments to sustain are addressed timely.
Prepare quarterly reports to leadership and management regarding grants currently awarded and to be pursued.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in grant writing. Ability to understand the needs of both the agency in need of funding and the organization that is offering the grant money
Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must pass a criminal history records check.
