YOU HAVE:
Technical skills. Broad knowledge of accounting practices and procedures. Advanced PC skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Outlook etc. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify and implement process improvements. Preferred experience with Microsoft Access, Tableau, SAP BPC, and Oracle financial applications.
Attention to detail. Ability to plan, organize and see projects to completion while managing deadlines. Ability to identify problem areas, determine the best alternatives for improvement and coordinate the required efforts with division personnel as needed.
Great communication skills. Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with ability to work effectively with all levels and function in the organization. Strong leadership skills, project management and communication skills. Ability to work well with all levels of personnel and different functional departments/divisions.
Experience. 6 – 8 years related experience.
Education. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance. Preferred MBA, CPA, CMA.
YOU WILL:
Manage. Manage and develop staff ( 2-3 Direct Reports) . Participate in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, pay and discipline of assigned personnel.
Update and Maintain. Staff activities include master data/contracts related to independent rep force, supporting territory analysis and rep financial status, calculating transition benefits per rep agreements, commission statement system, ensure regulatory compliances are in place (SOX, GAAP) and support various rep questions. Prepare, consolidate and analyze annual plans, quarterly forecasts, P&L’s, KPI’s and the like for supported business unit or segment.
Develop. Accounting and control functions relating to Scholastic sales reps and commission. Clearly communicate job duties and responsibilities to enable individuals to proceed with certainty in the performance of their positions. Monitor the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis; conduct effective performance reviews; take corrective action whenever necessary and, where necessary, work with HR Generalists to establish performance improvement plans. Support the development of assigned personnel’s skills and abilities, and demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of conduct (Jostens values) and work performance.Identify and resolve skill gaps and succession issues. Involve assigned HR Generalist on compliance issues such as pay equity, equal opportunity in hiring and promotions, and proper procedures for hiring, terminations, lay-offs, etc.
Advise. Manage various projects related to the Scholastic Business Unit supporting the VP Finance, Decision Support and various Scholastic business unit leaders through but not limited to: ad hoc reporting, process improvement, dashboard/metric reporting and various strategic models. Administer Company policies with regard to discipline, absenteeism, etc., in a fair and equitable manner, and fully document all incidents and actions taken.
Support. Personally perform or supervise accounting and control functions for the supported business unit, including maintaining GAAP, SOX and treasury policy compliance.
Lead. Participate in business and sales strategy implementation. Assist in both strategic decisions and tactical execution with business partners and as an enterprise solution. e.g. Provide finance leadership on strategic projects to add value; provide support for sales growth initiatives based on historical knowledge and experience; and Sales Representative compensation structure.
