Financial Reporting Manager

The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Financial Reporting Manager to join our team. As part of our Controller’s department, you will be responsible for executing accounting principles’ disclosure requirements, optimizing reporting systems, analyzing audited statements, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
This is an individual contributor role.

Our Management, Statutory Audited, and Regulatory Reporting team is part of MassMutual’s Corporate Finance Organization. We value diversity and collaboration as we work on challenging tasks that have a significant impact.
We strive to deliver accurate financial reporting data to our internal and external customers while maintaining strong financial reporting controls.
The Impact
As a Financial Reporting Manager, you will play a crucial role in meeting regulatory reporting requirements, supporting management through analysis, and collaborating with stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include :
Producing audited statement reports for key stakeholders, such as Senior Management, External Auditors, Regulatory bodies, and the Board of Directors
Monitoring and documenting key controls, including regulatory state filings, management discussion and analysis, quality assurance validations, and review
Supervising offshore team members in the preparation, review, and submission of financial reports
Working in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
Maximizing the value and optimizing reports
Providing insightful analysis in a clear and concise manner
Researching and interpreting changes in accounting policies and emerging trends
Leading and participating in complex cross-functional projects
Driving continuous improvement and efficiencies in reporting processes
The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
6+ years of experience with audited and / or regulatory statements
3+ years of GAAP reporting in life insurance companies
3+ years of financial analysis and reporting experience
3+ years of experience with general ledger reporting cubes and warehouses
The Ideal Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification
Knowledge of advanced insurance and investment statutory accounting principles
Experience with tools, applications, and / or queries to create reports and analytics
Skilled in validating and testing data and reports
Other competencies required include customer focus, change & innovation, strategic thinking, and relationship building
Expert knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
