Job Details
The Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis will be a key asset in the future growth of the company. This individual will lead the FP&A Department and will spearhead the Company’s financial forecasting and annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis, strategic planning, and special projects. S/he will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management, including preparing financial presentations, performing capital expenditure and acquisition analysis, conducting industry/peer group comparisons, evaluating new business opportunities, and assessing the integration of acquired companies and other leading projects requested by senior management. This function acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support optimal business decision-making. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators, including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and capital expenditures.
Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance.
Oversee and manage the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plans, and Modeling tools.
Own the Company financial model, including forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning; define rolling quarterly and annual financial forecasting and planning processes/requirements and manage the planning process.
Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis.
Quarterly and Monthly Financial reports.
Implement and work with Business Intelligence tools and dashboard reports.
Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand the ROI of store locations.
Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and corporate development opportunities.
Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision-making purposes.
Support Senior Management Team and Department heads with in-depth analysis and cash flow improvement ideation and execution.
Prepare presentations to the Senior Management Team, Board of Directors, and Investors.
Build a best-in-class FP&A team.
Manage a team embedded in a matrixed organization while understanding the unique challenges inherent in each part of the business.
Assess the quality of estimates prepared by business units and regional business teams and drive processes and best practices to improve forecasting accuracy across the organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA highly preferred.
Experience as a Director or Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis.
Strong leadership skills required – experience in multi-unit retail concepts preferred.
Experience in the Higher Education Market is a plus.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
Working knowledge of GAAP to facilitate understanding of forecast and budget results.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks to closure concurrently.
Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized and attentive to detail.
Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to think creatively — highly driven and self-motivated.
Demonstrated ability to roll up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products.
Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Big 4 accounting experience is a plus.
Financial Systems Expertise.
Demonstrated track record of optimizing and simplifying business processes.
