In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Summary of Duties:

Performs Accounts Payable accounting services, including invoice processing, reviewing invoice accuracy and driving timely payments, monitoring Accounts Payable Outlook inbox and providing timely responses to vendors and internal stakeholders
Prepares journal entries and reconciles account balances with appropriate records
Conducts special investigations and compiles accounting data for specific activities
Coordinates or performs the accumulation, analysis, and distribution of accounting data
Coordinates accounting methods and recommends/implements improvement in departmental procedures
Performs liaison activities with accounting management, internal and external customers
Investigates problems and implements corrective action
Reviews and analyzes accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and DOE orders
Assists in training personnel in various accounting routines and procedures
Analyzes financial system output and initiates corrections as required
Performs, reviews, and analyzes a variety of financial-related calculations
May perform other duties as required
Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment.Takes actions necessary to “stop” work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified

You Must Have:

BS Degree with minimum 5 years of exp or 2 years of additional relevant experience is required
BS degree in accounting preferred

We Value:

Additional college courses in accounting or 4 1/2 years in a lower level accounting position is also preferred
Knowledge of general accounting methods and practices normally acquired through a degree in accounting or equivalent formal education and experience

Proficiency in computer software; ability to quickly analyze complex financial information and initiate/recommend appropriate actions
Ability to effectively operate in a high transaction volume environment to support the accuracy and timeliness of invoice processing
Good written and oral communication skills as this position regularly interacts with internal and external customers
Ability to effectively work individually and in a team environment
