The award-winning AAA 4-Diamond Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa is looking for a Hotel Director of Finance/Financial Controller to join the Hotel Finance Team!
Situated within the 3,600-acre Lake Las Vegas master-planned resort community, Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa is a Mediterranean-inspired resort just 20 miles from the Las Vegas strip, ideal retreat for guests who are looking for both the excitement and proximity to the Las Vegas strip and a tranquil place they can escape to and relax. It is an idea venue for upscale corporate and association meetings and conferences, as well as wedding and social events.
In this role as DOF or FC, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to manage all aspects of property-level accounting and reporting functions while proactively managing and working with the Director of Finance to execute on forecast and budget goals with emphasis on expense management, as well as internal controls required by Hilton policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and process driven, have strong analytical skills and previous full service hotel Financial Controller or Director of Finance experience.
What will you be doing?
As a Financial Controller/Director of Finance, you would be responsible for supervising and directing the financial activities of the hotel, safeguard the assets, and prepares all financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Specifically, this includes but is not limited to:
- Serve as a financial advisor to Hotel Senior Management and Ownership.
- Monitor and approve all sales, purchases, salaries, and expenses of the hotel.
- Assist and counsel department heads in the interpretation of financial data and recommends courses of action to maximize profitability.
- Prepare the annual plan, projections and budgets throughout the year and advise hotel management, corporate office, and owners.
- Interview, train, supervise, counsel, schedule and evaluate staff.
Some of your responsibilities include:
- Recruit, train, support, and mentor Finance functional associates.
- Review of financial documents and monthly P&L packages prior to issuance.
- Complete quarterly balance sheet reviews and communicate any outstanding issues and/or liabilities.
- Work in conjunction with Operations, Sales, and Revenue teams to complete monthly forecast.
- Build and maintain good relationships with owners and attend all periodic reviews.
- Monitor hotel cash flow projections.
- Ensure Sales and Use Tax laws are being followed and provide leadership for your teams with respect to tax audits.
- Plan and coordinate all transitions to include planning, forecasting, budgeting, proration schedules, recruiting, hiring, and training all finance staff.
- Actively participate and collaborate with fellow EC members on projects, policies, and procedures, etc.
- Provide accounting teams with the resources, training, and empowerment to carry out their responsibilities. Develop each person’s talents and skills to their full potential to improve their contribution to the success of the business.
- Monitor financial performance by ensuring internal controls are in place, monitoring controls to ensure maximum flow and profit, ensuring revenue and profit performance, etc.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Studies is preferred. Master’s Degree and/or CPA is a plus.
- 3 to 4 years of director-level experience in hospitality finance is preferred.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to implement strategic plans.
- Excellent financial modeling, project management, and critical thinking skills with a strong work ethic.
- Prior experience with ADP, Hilton PMS systems, and Micros or similar accounting package, is preferred.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (with an emphasis on Excel).
