The primary role of a Taxonomy Project Manager (TPM) is to manage the development, maintenance, and research relative to a GASB financial reporting taxonomy(ies). The project manager also is responsible for supporting the Board in developing an overall understanding and use of electronic financial reporting. A project manager may also manage and conduct activities as assigned by the Director of RTA.
In carrying out the responsibilities of this position, the TPM is expected to (a) plan and meet the project timetable (project plan); (b) provide high quality analysis for taxonomy development alternatives as well as improvements to the taxonomy(ies); (c) effectively communicate (verbally and written) with Board members, staff and stakeholders; and (d) effectively lead, motivate, and develop staff assigned to the project.
The TPM is responsible for managing and facilitating the deliberative process at the GASB on the projects he or she is assigned. This requires leadership of ideas, thoughts, recommendations and negotiation with Board members, staff, and stakeholders, open-mindedness to consider other points of view, with sensitivity to needs and position. This requires an ability to be persuasive and to work with the Board, staff, and stakeholders as a group and individually. The TPM is accountable to other staff (including Senior Research Manager, Senior Technical Advisor and the Director of RTA, as applicable.
