Position Summary
The role of the Operations Manager is to supervise plant operations and employees on assigned shifts to ensure production guidelines are being met within established timing, quality, and cost standards. The Operations Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing that maximizes stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity. Drives the communication of production goals and objectives, as well as results to effectively motivate the team to maintain a high standard of product quality while maximizing plant efficiencies.
Essential Functions
· Organize and manage the workflow in the processing and packaging departments.
· Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring Food Safety / Quality Assurance (QA) standards are met.
· Promotes effective and comprehensive departmental operations.
· Oversees departmental budgets and review to actual expenditures monthly. Management of contracted and noncontracted indirect spend accounts.
· Coordinate a strategy to manufacture all SKU’s at or above the designed standards.
· Provide leadership that promotes development of associates.
· Understand and manage cost contributors to positively affect the Profit and Loss (P&L). Daily production value tracking is required.
· Work to improve efficiencies through further development of LEAN type manufacturing policies.
· Maintain and monitor break evens on all products.
· Meets performance metrics which track productivity, yield, labor efficiencies, quality, and inventory turnover. Development KPI and track performance for production department.
· Leads and manages the Production team and coordinates with the Shipping and Receiving teams regarding all operational responsibilities.
· Collaborates with Quality Assurance on the plant’s food safety program and ensures food safety results meet expectations.
· Ensures proper product rotation and shelf life on all products.
· Work with the HR on hiring and training.
· Work with the general manager and sales in developing new productions opportunities as needed.
· Work with maintenance to manage the preventative maintenance program for the operational area of the plant and its equipment.
· Creates daily production schedules, weekly labor schedules.
· Keep all tools and equipment in good working order.
· Preforms other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
· Must be able to perform repetitive functions.
· Must adhere to all company policies and regulatory guidelines.
· Must be able to accept direction from Department Leads and supervisors
· Must be able to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
· Must be able to communicate with co-workers and supervisor.
· Must be able to use knives, scales, and other cutting tools as necessary.
· Attention to detail.
· Ability to document and measure results
· Ability to supervise and motivate others
· Teamwork building skills
· Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor in Meat Science, Food Science preferred.
· Three (3) years of hands-on USDA meat processing operations experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
· Thorough knowledge of USDA, FDA, OSHA, and BRC / SQF required.
Supervision Exercised
· Supervises production department. Reports to the Director of Operations.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is in a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures typically ranging between 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit, and occasionally exposure to ranges between -5- and -51 degrees Fahrenheit. Noise levels is moderate to high. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors.

Pay: $72,004.00 – $101,361.00 per year
