Job Summary
The Finance Director will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee all financial activities in the organization. They will work closely with the Executive Team to frame quarterly and annual budgets, allowing for company departments to execute their objectives promptly and adequately. The FD will also ensure the development and implementation of efficient accounting procedures and cost-effective systems to meet the current and future financial needs of the company. The Fianace Director role includes expansive people leadership, which implies mentorship, accountability, and training for key organizational personnel.
Essential Functions
1. Provide leadership, management, and accountability for finance personnel; drive strong team performance through training, development, and resource management.
2. Prepare detailed reports, both current, and forecasting, for leadership, shareholders, banking institutions, and potential lenders.
3. Conduct periodic analysis of a company’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and conformity with budgets; assemble regularly with leadership to review financial results.
4. Ensure cash flow is compatible with company operations by overseeing the day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal control activities of the company.
5. Lead treasury functions, including maximizing return on cash and optimizing asset allocation across business segments.
6. Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, procedures, and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project management, cross-team communications, and workflow.
7. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws according to the Financial Accounting
Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, CCC/OLCC, and other relevant government agencies.
8. Ensure all local, state, federal, and banking reporting requirements are met promptly, and all applicable tax expenses are settled per legal obligations.
9. Perform risk management by analyzing company liabilities and investments; evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives.
10. Preserve strong relationships with company suppliers and clients by ensuring all credits are paid out, and all receivables are acquired on time.
